I agree. I actually think we should have done that like a year ago. Organization needs to answer one main question. Do you want to continue being that 7th - 8th seed team for a couple more years or you want to go throught some hard times but give yourself a chance to build something special in the future? Sure, you can also clear cap space but I wouldn't do that. Free agents are not gonna be that great in upcomings summers and even if the are why would they chose to go to Houston. We all know big time players don't really have much of an interest in playing i H-Town. And you may even try to get a superstar via trades. But why would anybody give up a superstar? Unfortunately Grizzlies don't have one. Fail. Tell me when was the last time this team was HEALTHLY? Ok, maybe in 2005/06 in the playoffs. That shouldn't be an excuse.
This is a good topic imo. If we were to blow it up which players do you target. This is what you do no doubt. First you land contracts that expire in 2012 when Dwight Howard, Chris Paul and Deron Williams become available. Players to target if you blow it up. R. Hibbert A. Randolph D. Cousins K. Love R. Westbrook Ibaka Just to name some. I think a new thread should be started or convert this thread into 'blow-it-up' scenarios. You do this by keeping all your expiring contracts this season and refuse to resign Yao Ming. You use his money to pitch an offer to players like Thaddeus Young AND Jeff Green. You basically trade off everybody for 2012 cap space AND other nice assets. By the time 2012 rolls around you sign both Howard and Paul AND you drafted Kanter i think between all the assets and FA aquistions you can create a well rounded team that can compete in the Yaoless era. Howard/Hibbert Kanter/Cousins Green/Young ???/??? Paul/Westbrook Who saids it cant work and what is your ideas about blowing it up how will you go about it?
Dude..........No way we could ever get that much for our players. I wish that was the case, but your blow it up method is a pipe dream. Are you kidding lol?
