You fail at failing. The "societal norms" are exactly what is being criticized. "Societal norms" in islamic countries which force women into mobile jails and restrict their rights in many other ways are totally messed up. Unless - you are adeelsiddiqui and think they are great.
I thought you were ok with government telling women what they can and cannot wear in public. Or is that just the European governments?
I am ok with European governments protecting women from their islamic husbands spreading the oppression that is rampant in islamic countries to the civilized, free, western world. Sad to see that you would prefer that the oppression of women spreads to other countries.
Wow, I didn't know that I posted enough to have a reputation for making stupid posts. I do, however, read threads here often enough to know that you have a reputation for being a douche bag.
Im quite sure the punishment is what was being critisized. The norm of a society can be whatever they choose. There are tribes that choose to roam around naked. Thats their right. You cant impose your view of the world on them. What mobile jails are you even talking about? So incoherent, I just dont understand the ramblings sometimes.
I prefer that women be allowed to wear what they want to wear in public. I agree with you that women should not be forced to completely cover themselves. But if that's what the woman wants to wear, I don't think she should be banned from doing so, unless there are legitimate security concerns (e.g., at an airport).
Look women should be walking around stark naked, it should be the law, in every country, all over the world. Just make them walk around naked, because as men, our imaginations are seriously challenged trying to decipher what is a curve and what is a wrinkle. DD
i don't even know why people bother with atw. in a perfect world, we'd all ignore every single basso post and every post by atw regarding islam (which is pretty much all of his posts). but we all enjoy the banging of our heads against the soft walls of a bbs forum, i assume.
I agree. I have atw on ignore because I can't stand his posts about Islam and yet I still get sucked into reading and responding, even after he decides to start making his attacks personal.
Amish society for one off the top of my head. I don't know what schools are like now but I remember as a kid going to US public school girls weren't allowed to wear outfits showing cleavage or skirts above the knee. No it doesn't make it better that some Muslim societies curb women's rights but at the same time its important to note that Muslims aren't exclusive to this.
So the solution is the secular government oppress them by limiting their ability to practice their religion. How about just saying that people should dress the way they want. Just curious would you be OK with if a husband thought his wife's fashion sense was unflattering so he forced her to dress in a more sexy manner?
Western nations dont execute a woman because she had sex out of wedlock or even worse got raped and somehow becomes the offender who shamed her family.
