Palin is so hilarious. She trys to steal the spotlight away from the funeral and president's visit to support her presidential run. Kinda pathetic. Was it really necessary to take a dig at Obama today? Here's how I read Palin statement: Yall should be ashamed about jumping to conclusions before having the facts (true). Because that's like what Nazis did to the Jews ( ) and I am being treated that way. Furthermore, people should not attack us by misinterpreting the words we use to score political points (for the record, Republicans have also criticized her for the use of the map). It's ok for the Tea Party and me to do it, but not yall. Furthermore, it's ok to portray Muslims as violent so we can wage war against them, but not me. And it's ok for me to demonize immigrants or liberals as well, since well ya know, that's kinda of socially acceptable. Oh yeah, Obama is a secret Muslim and wants to impose socialism on America.
People using a violent act to smear her. Blood libel would seem like an apt description of what happened.
That's odd, because I searched this BBS, it's only been used about 8 times prior to this incident, in the decade + of BBS history, and it pretty much always refers specifically to ritual murder and sacrifice of gentiles (or muslims) by jews...see for yourself: http://bbs.clutchfans.com/search.php?searchid=192418&pp=25&page=2 Can you explain how tales of ritual murder by jews and real murder by pogroms and the holocaust is "an apt description" for what happened to Ms. Palin? I'm simply trying to understand the connection. As previously stated - I've never heard the term prior to today.
I greatly admire Palin for taking a stand against the attacks. She obviously was the victim of a failed attachment startegy from the liberal media, i.e. msnbc. . . Now the failed strategy of attacking supposed symbols, lol btw has turned into this laughable contention of two words she used...I guess Obama was right when he said that hand-to-hand combat would be just after the House went to conservatives... We are ready Obama, thanks for the heads up. . .
wrong... http://blogs.jta.org/politics/article/2011/01/12/2742519/loughners-jewish-mother-not-so-much
That's a nice list - but you didn't respond to my question. I will post it again: Can you explain how tales of ritual murder by jews and real murder by pogroms and the holocaust is "an apt description" for what happened to Ms. Palin?
like she did against obama on the campaign trail by trying to link him to terrorist attacks that happened when he was 8. if this is using a violent act to smear her, then so is saying obama "pals around with terrorists". hypo****ingcrits.
Exactly, it was a blatant defammation to somehow connect her or her political leanings to this tragedy...Absolutely a fair term...The liberals realize they lost in the House, and lost in epic fashion. They once thought the tea party movement was not a threat, now they know better... If I was a liberal, I would do the same...Attack anything and everything! Turn her mass appeal into a negative. I almost don't blame liberals for these strategies even in the face of blood to libel her, however it does deserve to be called upon...It is now obvious the threat she is to the opposing political fence...
The definitions of blood and libel are not exclusive to that context. It just refers to exploiting a tragic/violent act to defame a person or group. Which is exactly what happened here.
How many times can you repeat yourself? For every person that admires her, there is somebody else that can't stand the women. She thrives on making ridiculous and polarizing statements: "The America I know and love is not one in which my parents or my baby with Down Syndrome will have to stand in front of Obama's 'death panel' so his bureaucrats can decide, based on a subjective judgment of their 'level of productivity in society,' whether they are worthy of health care. Such a system is downright evil." –-Sarah Palin, in a message posted on Facebook about Obama's health care plan, Aug. 7, 2009 "We believe that the best of America is not all in Washington, D.C. ... We believe that the best of America is in these small towns that we get to visit, and in these wonderful little pockets of what I call the real America, being here with all of you hard working very patriotic, um, very, um, pro-America areas of this great nation." --Sarah Palin, speaking at a fundraiser in Greensboro, N.C., Oct. 16, 2008 "Dr. Laura: don't retreat...reload! (Steps aside bc her 1st Amend.rights ceased 2exist thx 2activists trying 2silence "isn't American, not fair")" --Sarah Palin, in a Twitter message coming to the defense of Dr. Laura Schlessinger, the talk radio host who apologized and decided to retire from her highly-rated program after using the N-word on the air 11 times in 5 minutes, Aug. 18, 2010 "Ground Zero Mosque supporters: doesn't it stab you in the heart, as it does ours throughout the heartland? Peaceful Muslims, pls refudiate." --a Tweet by Sarah Palin, which she quickly removed after being ridiculed for inventing the word "refudiate," July 18, 2010 "We grow good people in our small towns, with honesty and sincerity and dignity." --Sarah Palin, in her speech at the Republican Convention, quoting the fascist right-wing columnist Westbrook Pegler, an avowed racist and anti-Semite who once expressed his hope that Robert F. Kennedy would be assassinated "Yes, the explicit sex-ed programs will not find my support." --Sarah Palin, declaring her support for abstinence-only education in a questionnaire during her 2006 gubernatorial race
I'm afraid I don't follow this, you need to clarify. I'm asking you to explicitly apply it and why what happened to Palin is similar/dissimilar to the historical concept of "Blood libel" and European Jews and the resulting pogroms/holocaust etc.
she was using a violent act from when obama was a kid to smear him. facts matter, but only to some of us. hypocrite.
so sarah palin used that term for informational purposes rather than to smear her opponent in a political campaign?
