i was in a room of jazz fans when that comment (get up you little girl!) aired during the game... i was emabrassed, if just for that moment, because that fan said that. never kick a man when he's down.
What Deron did with that charge was like going for an eye gouge but jarring one's fingers instead. He doesn't deserve heckling because of the minor injury but he doesn't desrve any sympathy either.
Exactly. Deron was running toward Battier while trying to find the ball. If he gets slammed, that's his problem.
Remember when T-Mac tweaked his back in Dallas? Didn't the Mavs fans cheer and chant "brokeback?" I remember getting really angry over this
You have tens of thousand of fans in the arena, there is bound to be some bad apple. As long as majority of the fan isn't cheering for the fact he went down, its good enought.
agreed....i hate players as opposing teammates....but at the end of the night they are still human beings...and you should never cheer when someone is hurt....you never know who you will like some day remember hating sir charles?
Sadly, all it takes is just a bad apple or two. The two kids in class giggling end up getting the teacher's wrath brought on the whole class. A few yahoos paint a bad picture of Philadelphia fans(booing Santa and the Donovan McNabb pick) Extremists giving Christians/Muslims a bad name.
I was thinking the same thing. For him to compare that with Yao's broken leg, when he was down SCREAMING in pain..is a joke. I still don't think it's good to cheer an injury, major or minor. However, given this day and age of people shooting others in murder suicides and what not(VT), why on God's green earth would I lose sleep over someone cheering an opposing player's injury. Sorry, but he needs to get over it.
This blog shouldn't be necessary, but when you are on national tv and you've got one extremely loud moron shouting out what he did for the rest of the country to hear, it doesn't matter that it's just one guy, it makes the whole city look bad. Charge, what charge? They were both going for the ball and crashed into eachother. How do you take a charge while running?
Those Chronicle writers are ridiculous. First said coach wont be back next season because he doesnt smile. Second said one franchise player wont EVER be the top 10 center. Third said fans are classless, coward, gutless. Wow, just wow. Let's go get Rosen to build the dream team for Chronicle.
I'm pretty sure it was just an attempt to stop the Rockets momentum. To me it looked like Shane actually got the worst of the collision and he poppped right back up. It was a BS injury, he just stayed down to try and kill our momentum, and don't think for a second that those j*zz fans in Utah have any class, they are known to be disgusting, classless and disrespectful. And Utah does suck....
Just to be different: No city "sets an example" for others on how to act. I didn't look back on Colts fan and think, 'Gee us Texan fans should act just like them!' Nobody does. Personally, I'd rather be known for a rowdy crowd. I don't subscribe to the A&M crowd theory. I like the "Bull Sh*t" chants. At the same time, I don't condone cheering for an injury. But to be fair, the jeers were coming from the BS call and on the loose ball collision. The fans were more upset at the terrible class - it wasn't like they were cheering for Deron to be seriously injured.
Thanks for making my first thread a success! I think we can all agree that: 1) Outside of maybe two people, we were booing the refs, not Williams. 2) The foul called on Shane was BS. 3) We have one of the classiest cities and some of the classiest fans in the world. 4) Fran Blinebury is an @$$hole.
People need to stop letting their feelings get in the way of 48 minutes of basketball. This is the playoffs. These games start at almost 9 pm now, so your going to have a lot more people influenced by alcohol. I remember going to playoff games in 93-94 with people chanting the same stuff. As long as our players show good sportsmanship, fans have nothing to apologize for.
