That's true too. One minute, he's on the floor not moving, the next, he's back in the game playing like it never happened? Either way, we still shouldn't boo him while he's down. After he gets up and starts playing again, all bets are off.
earlier this season, i was watching a rockets v mavs game in austin at the tavern. after it was OBVIOUS that the mavs were going to win, some douches next to us actually started cheering for them to foul harder and hurt the rockets, even when the game was out of reach and we had no chance of coming back...i was seriously in shock. it was one of the most classless things i'd ever witnessed...yet i wasn't even that surprised when i realized it was coming from a mavs fan.
being at the game. it seemed that the refs blew a bs whistle. so everyone was pretty pissed off about that. hence the Utah Sucks chant. but they did cheer for him when he got up. IMO i thought he floppin on the floor especially when he didnt even come out of the game.
Obviously what the writer is saying is true -- you should never cheer an injury -- but as I recall: 1) It was a tough call to make against the Rockets and a lot of initial reaction, without realizing how seriously Williams was hurt, was about that. 2) There was a lot of clapping/arena support for Williams when he came off the court. I don't doubt though that the writer took this moment to express his superiority over his lowly peon fan readers because that's what he does. Fran Blinebury has proven time and time again that Richard Justice is not the only Dick on staff.
I don't think we should cheer when a player is down. Regardless of Fran's rep, he makes a good point. Stay classy Houston!
Then cheer the normal, "bulls**t, bulls**t, bulls**t." But yeah, I hear where you guys are comin from.
So i guess ,a short time later you got a post from ANOTHER BOZO,saying HAHA? I'm glad to inform you, I am that"bozo". I don't know if you read correctly,or are a HARDCORE fan..but first off: i didnt write HAHA or anything to deron being on the FLOOR,my topic was about the COLLISION! Not that deron or shane were hurt or not. On top, deron wasnt hurt at ALL,did u see him spring abck up and play ball asif nothing happened? He layed on the floor cuz it prolly did hurt, but not as much as you'd think, and ALSO to get some rest..believe it or not. Second of all,its a PLAYOFF game, "Win or go home" "Play hard or don't play at all." come on man toughen up it is a contact sport, and the collision was nice. I'm not saying that i was ruthless or careless becuz deron was hurt,no,NOT AT ALL. That's just what you understood,or what you wanted to understand. For future occasions...i'm not trying to be offensive or anything of that sort, but read carefully.
You should probably tell that to Fran since he's the one who said it. Then again, he'll probably ignore you just like he ignored my comment. He tends to do that when he's wrong. http://blogs.chron.com/franblinebury/2007/04/were_better_than_that.html#comments By the way, Fran's not a Rockets fan at all. He said he's a fan of good games, whoever the teams are. I, however, am a HARDCORE Rockets fan.
He sprained his ankle, and there was considerably more booing for him than when a select few of our fans booed when Williams went down.
Most people probably thought he was just flopping because when it comes to fouls Utah is frickin pathetic
Really? and i had the game on my tv to top it off LOL it was on but iw asnt watching. Anyways sorry if i got off on the wrong foot with ypu,cuz i thought u were calling me out with this thread LOL. Nice to hea ur a Hardcore fan
The problem with this particular incident was that Shane got called with a BS foul at the same time. I would like to think that more fans were booing the foul than cheering the injury.
