yeah...same with the BBS jabbing contests. When I get the better of Smeggy and Achebe, I'm all over the monitor, screaming and doing my 24 high move at their limp come backs. I learned that on the court. check this out
Crisp, leave your .24 low out of it!!!1 Now hang on didn't the goal Brandi score win them the WORLD CUP the highest acheivement in her sport, probably justifying her removal of her top!! Smeg
Give the guy a break...Moochie that is, not Blinebury. So what if he did a little, er big, celebration dance after making a game-winning shot. You can't expect everyone to behave like a perfect gentleman every time they make a big shot. NBA players do get excited sometimes just like anyone else. If Griffin had made a shot like that, he probably wouldn't have done what Moochie did...but Griffin's a 19 year-old laid back rookie, while Moochies a hyped up veteran. NBA players shouldn't be critiqued on everything they do.
How come no one ever criticizes futball...err soccer players when they do the same damn thing. Because that's pretty much standard behavior in soccer. How many times do you see what Moochie did in basketball? If celebrations get excessive in soccer (compared to the norm), people criticize them too. How about Brandi Chastain( I think thats how you spell it) when SHE took off her shirt and showed her BRA to the world when she scored a goal???? The difference was that she won the World Cup, not a random game. Moochie's celebration (jumping on the media tables and stuff) was basically identical to what Cassell did and what Cooper did ... after their teams won NBA/WNBA titles. It's all a matter of scale. If he did that after scoring a random layup, would it be excessive? What about after a 20-pt game? How about after beating the worst team in the NBA? Or the best team? Or winning a playoff game? How about a playoff series? Or the NBA title? I assume you'd agree that it would be excessive after hitting a layup and not excessive after winning an NBA title. The question is where it goes from excessive to non-excessive. Everyone is going to have a different opinion on that, and since Blinebury is an opinion columnist, I'm not sure what the fuss is over him stating his opinion on it.
The only times that Moochie's "class" has been an issue are after these game winning shots, of which he's had more in the last two seasons than many NBA stars. Would you rather have another backup point that didn't make these shots but "played with class"? Does anyone remember at the end of the third quarter of the first Lakers game this year? It seemed like there was a picture somewhere. Steve got us within 3 points, I believe, in the third quarter, and he went around the court pretending to be apparently some kind of bird or airplane. I sure don't remember any bashing there. But, for some reason its excusable to the BBS when its Steve Francis, but certainly not for Moochie Norris, or any other player not named Francis or Griffin. If you guys don't want to see celebrations, or find them to be embarrassing, I suggest you find a new hobby other than the NBA. Moochie Norris certainly isn't the only one to do so, and the Rockets certainly aren't the only team. If it was so embarrassing to the Rockets and/or league, don't you think someone nationally would've said something about it being "classless"? I saw the recaps on ESPN, Fox, etc. I watched Sportscenter. No one said a damn thing. The only person who has, Blinebury, simply looks for something to b**** about and writes a new column. He has years of work to back up that point.
Yea, we beat a team that is losing badly, and we celebrate our ass off. They're in the same standing in their conference as we are in ours, so technically, we should have beat them, being a Western team and all. They're in freakin last place.I can't wait to see Mooch celebrate after we beat Memphis and Chicago. Our showboating is the only thing I really hate about our team. (I can't believe I'm gonna do this but) I remember when Scottie was playing for us and we had just beat Denver in a close game(I was there). Michael Dickerson and Cat started celebrating as they were coming off the court. Scottie approached them and told them to stop embarassing the team. That we should have beat them by 10 or 20. He said to save the enthusiasm for the play-offs. He was right. I know we have a young team, but Rudy should have them take on a different outlook to the game. They should expect to win most games, especially against mediocre teams. Fran was right on the money if you ask me.
Damn, we win a game and they still b****. Unbelievable. BTW, off topic, but does anyone remember the commercial with Garnett playing a game of foosball against Chastain and she wins? He then stares at her as she just stands there. She says "what?" and he says "What's up with the shirt?" Funny!
I like that our players play with Enthusiasm - to think that a player being enthused that he just hit a game winning shot is classless or embarassing is ludicrous, in my opinion.
Look, it's been a trying season. I jumped out of my chair when Mooch hit the winning shot. We haven't had many reasons to get happy this year, but we have a solid team held down by injury, and we know we're better than our record shows. This team will be fun to watch. Steve, Cat, an emerging EG, Mooch, Mo, maybe KT (will Mo, KT, and EG be one too many 4's for one team? We shall see.) Damn, we gonna be smooth. Celebrate? Go ahead, Mooch.
