Yao is such a tough, hard, son of a b****. I love it. Imagine, if you will allow yousrelf for just a moment, if McGrady was this hard... doesnt bear thinking about does it.
I kept thinking the same thing......I have never seen a player so consistently absent from the team bench during injuries as TMac has been this year......there's gotta be something going on behind the scenes......a sprained knee doesn't keep you immobilized and unable to cheer on your teammates...
You seriously need to live your life vicariously through another player…. One who preferably isn’t soft and lazy…. maybe when you get out of school... start paying for things... instead of mommy and daddy... and if your lucky enough to own your own business... or get a managerial position… you will realize that guys like Mclazy… you get rid of quick….
Who cares if hes on the bench or not. What matters most if he is going to bring it on the court. I could care less if he sat with the crowd. As long as he brings his game, he can sit where ever he wants to sit. It's not like we need his vocal leadership or anything. That is what Stevie and Deke is for. If he doesn't play well, then we should complain. No need to b**** and whine because he isn't sitting with the team. T-Mac = The New JVG
In all seriousness, no one talks about Yao's conditioning anymore because it has become a non-issue. No more blaming late game disappearances on a busy summer with no rest. No more rationalizations about his unprecedented burden of carrying his huge carcass up and down the floor all night long. I don't know whether its the product of the RA offence not making him work so hard for post position on offense, the defense not forcing him to show hard on pick and roll, or just improved conditioning work, but Yao is consistently a force at the end of games lately, while playing more minutes than last year.
I think Yao's hard working / practice contributes a big part of his conditioning. I read that Yao practices/works out on off days, and also lifts after games when all the other players simply go home after games. I believe these efforts finally pay off.
You are a genius. It took you this long to get a joke everyone got the first second they read it. More quality posts, less quantity please. You don't need to post every random thought that pops in your head.
nice title, but even better blog. i wasn't able to watch the last quarter, but its easy to see that yao clearly has the heart needed to win a championship. hope it happens here, but if not- he clearly deserves one somewhere. if dwight howard had yao's heart, he would be a beast.
1. The Brits, I believe, use the term "hard man" for what we in the U.S. describe as "tough guy." I don't know if they use both "hard man" or "tough guy" or "hard man" exclusively. Is anyone here British and can shed some light on it? In any case, here is an example http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/793420.stm The article is titled: "Vinnie Jones: Hard man with soft centre." I believe Vinnie played the tough guy in several movies and was a sort of Charles Oakley-type as a professional soccer player. 2. About Tracy... as far as I know, he isn't too much of a hard man. More precisely, his level of effort can fluctuate depending on whether he thinks there is realistic probability for winning or not. You kinda have to push and prod him and letting him know that his effort will not go to waste in order to get him motivated to go through a wall for you (which is what Van Gundy did with him... from their private chats to JVG's talks of "his finest hour" during Yao's absense and the subtle jabs at his D "when McGrady defends, we defend.") However, it should be noted that, when properly motivated, TMac played his heart out and carried the team. It's just that he can get discouraged fairly easily. In any case, talent like Tracy, one with headcase tendencies, doesn't grow on trees. As frustrating and high maintenance as he can be, the team's best choice is still to pay the maintenance and try to bring the most out of him. You gotta take the chance that you can do enough to make him come out with guns blazing again. Frankly, there are many guys with headcase histories and have given up on their teams when they didn't think they could win-- including current fan darlings Baron Davis and Paul Pierce. Tracy McGrady is not in anyway the only one with such issues.
For once, I agree. I usually look for some defense for T-mac, but this is sad that he doesn't appear to be with the team whenever he is injured. Anyways carry on, we will just rack up more wins while hes out. When he comes back, he can contribute to the winning or.....well lets see what happens.
umm it has a very significant impact if it affects team chemistry. Perhaps his teammates have been provided a better explanation as to why he is not there, but if all they have been told is that he cant join them on the bench because he's resting a sprained knee the there is prob some concern there among them. Francis was not even in the rotation battling a flu and managed to catch a separate flight to join the team on the road. Your telling me t-mac can't make the 45 minute drive for moral support to the Toyato center? You think deke francis and the rest of the bench constantly cheering for his team-mates goes unnoticed? If hes a team guy, then he shouldn't require this much special treatment because while he is a crucial piece on the court he is not above the team. Like I said in another thread, Amare Stoudemire knee swells up from time to time and has a ar more serious then the injury t-mac currently has. You will see him on the bench more times than not with his team.
