It's hard for me to understand "starters" vs. "second unit" the way people describe it. It isn't like when you substitute a player you have to swap five starters for five bench players. Start the best players: Yao, Tmac, Ron and whoever else plays well with them (Rafer and Scola seem to be the guys). When Yao sits you bring in Landry. When Tmac or Ron sit you bring in Battier or Barry. Brooks covers for Rafer....see where I'm going? Just because a guy starts and isn't the #1 on option as a starter doesn't mean he can't stay out there and lead the "second unit" when the other two stars are out. I love the idea of Ron starting and staying on the court with Brooks and Landry while Tmac and Yao get a breather. Landry and Brooks bring plenty of punch off the bench themselves. Those two guys with either Tmac or Ron is more than talented enough to build leads against all but the best teams.
I would love to see this so-called say things about Yao and Artest when they have an off night. Its pathetic how he throws Mac under the bus like that. He has done everything for this team last year included single handedly almost upsetting the Jazz with scrubs on his team
Good points, but you left out Hayes. His defense in the 4th quarter on Howard was indispensible last night. I think our rotation might be the least defined of any contender I've ever seen, and I think that this team may thrive on it. I think Adelman must be fretting about this now, but if we can retain health we can throw the kitchen sink at anyone and dominate.
So everybody else on the playoff squad last year was a scrub? Battier, Scola, Hayes? How about Landry, when he came back and saved a game after getting his tooth knocked out? Scrub? Are you really a Rockets fan if you think everybody on the squad except for one guy is a "scrub"? Or are you a you know what?
Never? This was our 11th straight win last year: <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/l8xAtDciwrM&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/l8xAtDciwrM&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Agreed. We also have to remember that at least 1 if not 2 or 3 guys among the starters will be together with the bench at some point or another.
I think what got under his skin is McGrady nursing a bum knee and shoulder still out there playing thru it and getting bashed by a hack. The criticisms of McGrady might be warranted on certain occasions, but honestly they are much more rare than BlinDbury might understand. Blindbury throws in a T-Mac bash every time he does his blog. And a not healthy guy with 16, 7, and 5 thru 3 quarters of play doesnt deserve criticism. If it were any other Rocket they would be lauded for playing thru it and contributing wherever he could. And make no mistake, there would be nice mention of the stretch in the third where the injured player scored 8 in a row for his team to keep them in it.
What gets under my skin is the way you-know-what's have to glorify McGrady by portraying the rest of the team as useless scrubs. Anybody who saw Landry come off his man to block Williams last year knows better. Blinebury isn't very diplomatic about it, but he does bring up a vaild point. T-Mac's not a leader. I've argued for a while now that that's not a huge deal. If you don't really have leadership on your team then you fill it up with hard working veterans who don't need anyone else to motivate them--Battier, Hayes, Scola, Sura, etc. You can also import leadership though, and that is what the Rockets have done with Artest. When he gets pushed he's going to push back, not back down. He brings in a lot of grit and determination, a lot of pure toughness, that the Rockets really haven't had up until this point. McGrady provides talent but not toughness. I don't think you can criticize somebody for being a different person than maybe what you'd like them to be, but it's valid to point out exactly why the addition of Artest could be enormous.
Idk sometimes it amazes me how fans of the team rag on Mcgrady so bad...like he hasn't done anything to help the team, like he hasn't closed out games, like he and Yao haven't worked together to get the win, like he hasn't had to put the team on his back, like he didn't score 13 points in 33 seconds to bring us back and win, people forget the good things he's done and look at the bad. Even when he's winning for us people always find something to complain about. If he misses a shot he's chuckin, when he makin them people dont like where or how he shot it. Leave Mcgrady alone and let him enjoy his time, Mcgrady is still as valuable to this team as anybody...

Man you are speaking the truth that is the same way I feel. Friedman gives the facts and its clear Fran is a Rocket Hater. I mean what positive reports does he give?
