Miller will not be a great fit, barring a major change in their offensive philosophy. It's not just that he can't shoot, it's that he plays at a completely different tempo from Roy and Aldridge. He's at his best with a running team and Portland is one of the slowest in the league. He's never played well alongside a post presence. It's ironic that he runs and they don't considering he's ten years older than either one of them. Maybe Fernandez and Batum will benefit from his presence, but they are not the cornerstones of the team. Miller will do fine, a playmaker like him will always make plays. But this is like putting Kidd or Payton in a half-court system and expecting magic. It just won't work well. On top of that, he's getting to the age where his defense will take a major decline. This was a mediocre signing.
I came across this thread right after reading this one, and it finally occurred to me that site is named as such to sound like "razor's edge". Just thought I'd share.
Miller can add a running, transition attack. I mean, what, they were gonna run with Blake? Miller adds a different dimension in that sense, plus, as has been mentioned, he's a solid pick-and-roll point guard, which is Portland's bread and butter. The bottom line is they did upgrade the position ... how much remains to be seen. But they did, eventually, whether intended or not, address a need and will be a better club for it.
If the blazer don't make a conf finals, they're going to fire Nate and best believe every coach in the league would want that roster. What is adelmans contract situation?
The Blazers just added Ime Udoka. Nice signing. A perimeter defender who can knock down the open shot.
