In which game did Webster play PG hooroo: how will Landry become a backup SF for Portland But I'd do that deal that you proposed! We could then make a push for Earl Watson - he's 'good enough' as a starting PG - only trouble is his $6million salary...
Uhh, as a close follower of the Blazers living in Portland... Martell Webster has never ever played PG. As a matter of fact his dribbling skills are very poor and on par with Luther Head's.
Thank you for chiming in. I was going to jump on his case pretty hard. The notion of Webster playing point anything is completely ludicrous.
don't see where this need is coming from, read several articles from Roy and McMillan talking up Roy as the PG particularly in the 4th quarter, if Rudy plays well at the 2 spot, is Roy not going to be on the floor, i think not.... a combination of the Blake, Roy and Bayless will get the job done......
Exactly. Whomever was saying Roy is not a pure PG - it's not really the point. Fact is he will play there when it matters most, and he can get them into their sets. He is more of a 'pure' PG than McGrady, and TMac was fine running the offense last year. Blazers don't need another PG with their current roster as it stands.
Try telling that to Portland! Allegedly they are the ones calling around and offering Outlaw for a 'pure point'. I'd agree with your assesment though - can't see why they need a PG with Blake (who did a fine job for them last season) still on the roster. Perhaps it's smoke and mirrors trying to play down the expectations on Bayless?
yeah maybe they are downplaying bayless, or maybe he isn't a PG, but they may also be downplaying the impact of Rudy F, which would be tough after his Olympics performance... the only way the Blazers need a PG is if BOTH Rudy and Bayless are not in the rotation at all and that would mean Roy only plays the 2.... which I don't buy at all, he played the 4th quarter as the one last year, and McMillian has said he will be doing that more next season
Another thing to consider is Roy loved watching Bayless play during summer league. He said what he wants at PG is a player (1) who will bring the ball up court, (2) give it back to him and (3) play off the ball in their half-court offense. He specifically said Bayless fits that bill to a "T". But the Blazers staff has said they want Roy to learn how to play better off the ball and he had been working on that this summer before the knee came up. Still, in the 4th quarter, everyone agrees Roy will be the one playing point.
So do we want a point guard, they should just stick with bayless for at least a yr n see what he can do, stop being greedy blazers
