It's not like teams were scrambling to sign him, he sat around the rest of the season after the Rockets cut him. The Blazers signed him because they needed bodies with injuries to Nurkic and Collins
Um you gave him 10 games. He actually had a 30+ point game on like 6 threes made for you guys. The rest of the team was playing like **** and the Rockets blamed Melo. It was shameful. Portland has an actual leader in Damian Lillard who trusts his teammates and builds them up instead of pointing figures. Dame cares more about his teammates than he does winning a title. He wants to be remembered as a good person.
he tries on defense ill give you that... he tries so much its weird, but on offense was an absolute trash and or nonexistent this game 2
Melo being jettisoned had little to do with his awful, awful shooting in his short stint with us. It was mostly to do with a quick recognition that he would never work in our defensive scheme.
Yes, we gave him 10 games which is why the Blazers are the 8th seed and we don't remember the last time we didn't have homecourt advantage. He was not going to get into shape, because he was in the same f'ing jumping jacks shape he always shows up in thinking he's about to cut the rest of the fat in camp, then he grows. This is the one time the myth about Melo losing significant weight turned out to be true and sustainable. You show up out of shape to a title year and don't hit open shots, James Harden will personally have you shipped out whether you're Dwight Howard, Chris Paul or even Carmelo Anthony. No time to bicker over fit, we have had no need for what Melo brings AT ALL. If you show up to a title year out of shape and I see you anywhere on the planet, I will kick your ass myself, although it will almost always results in me getting y ass whooped. Then I'd do it again. F*ck Melo, Paul - and while we're at it Barkley - for showing up out of shape to a title year. It's the easiest contribution you can make, barely costs anything, no one is playing defense against you doing it. Believe me, we don't need advice from the Blazers. Their boon last playoffs would be considered a failure in the Rockets organization. James Harden is on pace to be an all time great player, Damian Lillard is on pace to become James Harden from 2 years ago. Dame is still out there talking about his game winner over the Rockets. Just like I begged the universe for OKC/Paul, I really wish we could have played Lillard too but I want a Harden-Lebron series more than anything. You don't seem to understand that right now, we would still bench Melo cause he doesn't (combined) shoot and defend better than anyone. We have 0 need for mediocre mid range iso play, we have Harden who is head and shoulders better at creating points from that location and Westbrook is as mediocre as Melo in the midrange. We already take way too many mid range jumpers. Anyways, good luck to you and Dame on your "I was a good person" title. Are you guys gonna have a really polite parade or something when you award yourselves?
He tried to play D here in Houston too, he was just not good at it. But he never struck me as a - I wont even try on defense - type. Not while he was here.
Blazers just split the first 2 games vs the #1 seed on the road -- they were terrible last night, but should play much better at home. #BeMelo #BeWell
Lol. Might have agreed until the Dame love started. Dude is a social media addict with an inferiority complex.
Firing Melo was a panic move. The team had Champ aspirations so when they lost first 3 games by 20 pts then obv Morey lost his **** and thought Melo being the only new addition to the team was the cause. Morey admitted as much he panicked and fired Melo almost as a reflex. Here is Morey saying the Rox have no plains to waive Anthony: https://rocketswire.usatoday.com/20...-rumor-rockets-plan-to-waive-carmelo-anthony/ Sorry but you don't go from "No we ain't waiving him" to "he can't defend in our switch defense" in just a few days LOL. The reality is the team had a horrible training camp, MDA and the coaching staff is still sore at Melo from their bad blood in NYC and obv mailed it in during training camp. The previous ast coach was so pissed he resigned right before the season started to really screw the Rox over. That's not on Melo, that's on the coaching staff and MDA for not having an open mind and letting bygones be bygones. This year Melo shot 38% from 3 for the season, that's not exactly horrible. As for everyone taking the dump on Melo now, the dude's a VET MIN guy. He shouldn't be judged as a 3rd star or w/e cuz he never positioned himself as such, he came in with the knowledge he would just be a role player on a team which is what VET MIN guys do. You don't get down on Rivers or Maclemore when they score less than 5 pts a game so why is Melo suddenly held to a high standard on the Blazers? Since he is being paid much less then the pressure on him to perform should also be much less. On nights where Green is off people don't lose their **** so the same standard should apply to Melo cuz he is making the same amount of money. This is the difference between Melo, Cliff Paul and Playoff P: 1 is making the vet min and the other 2 are making the max. I honestly think it's all water under the bridge cuz even if he wasn't fired Melo wouldn't resign with the team when they traded Cliff Paul for WB. If anything he'd prob follow CP3 to OKC and be playing there right now. However in a vacuum I think Melo would def fit on the team as our PF/C in the Rox smallball style of play. I dunno if he is good enough to beat Jeff Green the way he is playing right now but he could totally be the 2nd "big" off the bench after Green.
