At least that's one big man out of the picture the Kings or T-Wolves might've been looking at.

Wasn't Camby given away to the Clippers for...I don't even remember.
It's a weird trade. I'm not sure I understand Portland's thinking beyond this year. Doesn't Outlaw still have room to grow? Aren't they offensively challenged already? And are they going to have an Oden, Camby, Pryzbilla center rotation next year for their championship run?

What a robbery. Now Bayless gets an increase in minutes, and they didn't need Outlaw anyway.

Especially given the guy's own history.

The Clippers probably should've extracted more, but Camby was not in their future plans. They can take at least take a look at Outlaw in this deal.

I think their problem was defense especially at the 4 and that was before Oden and Przybilla went down.

Moving Blake opens up minutes for Bayless and appeases Miller. Outlaw wouldn't have gotten much run with Fernandez and Batum around. Rudy might stop complaining about giving up more money in Europe whenever he didn't get minutes.

    Brandon Roy
    Nicolas Batum

Great pick-up for Blazers but Steve Blake was always over-looked on that team. He hit some big shots, and played great there.

I looked it up. The Clippers originally got Camby from Denver for the option to swap 2nd round draft picks. THE OPTION TO SWITCH 2ND ROUND DRAFT PICKS

    http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3491156

I don't know what Bill Simmons and some of y'all are smoking, but Camby's value is way higher amongst us fantasy bballers and computer chair GMs than it is amongst NBA GMs.

And I still don't get how Portland getting Camby helps them defend PF's. Dude is a great weakside shotblocker but not a good straight up PF defender imo.

I just don't agree that Clippers got raked over the coals on this one.

The Clippers had cap space or a TE. Denver did it to get under LT. They've always made trades to get under.

updated article on yahoo says camby is pretty upset about it...found out by phone during a team dinner and immediately left without saying anything or finishing his meal....but they also point out he was also upset when he got traded from denver..i guess he doesnt like change.

freakin A, all these nice centers being traded away! :(

I would've loved Camby or Haywood as back up to Yao. Both are more than capable starters which is what we need considering that Yao could leave us any time during the season with his injuries.

Excellent trade for Portland. Fills a need and they're not stuck with any long-term deals. Plus, they didn't need Blake or Outlaw anyway. There's really no downside to this deal from Portland's end.

No more of those LA parties with B-Diddy and the crew. Yeah its kinda tough to get away from. Perhaps winning games again can hopefully boost him back.

That's fine, but essentially, the Nuggets gave Camby to the Clippers. There was no real trade. The Clippers didn't even back a 1st or a 2nd...or any asset at all. I understand it was a cap move, but Jeebus, that's as closest to a straight giveaway as you get. Then the Nuggets went on to do just fine making the WCF and all.

    okay...
it took some digging, but man I finally traced everything. Denver got back a trade exception (essentially cap space for future purposes) that they renewed in the Iverson trade (it's complicated and wasn't needed to get Billups but the exception plus trade allowed a new exception) and finally combined with a 2nd rounder and used up in acquiring Affalo and Sharpe (a project).

So, Denver flipped Camby for Affalo (2nd rounder and Sharp cancel each other out in value imo). Detroit now has a trade exception and 2nd rounder from the deal.

Now swinging this to the Clippers...is Affalo much much better than Outlaw and Blake. I understand the circumstances were different, but my point is still legit: Camby is rated much higher amongst us than amongst NBA GMs. This was not Dunleavy being a complete moron and totally undervaluing Camby.

It will probably be more of Pryzbilla and Camby, cause Oden will either be hurt or working on his next photo shoot.
