    tell ya what....

you go thru all the time and trouble it takes to do this...then you can decide what format works best for you.

I have tried every format out there....and the xvid avis are the best combination of size to quality . the experts in video manipulation agree..

You say you dont haver a player.?...GO FIND ONE THEN.

lots of em out there....BS player, VideoLan, Winamp plays em...every different movie player I have (a half dozen at least) plays them..

try going and getting the xvid codec and installing it instead of whining like a baby.

heh...Windows Media Video (WMV) the best??? I think not....not even close...and mpeg files of this duration would be over 40M...Im sure the good folks here would rather deal with files that are <5M.

    EDIT: http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/codecs-203-1.htm

doom9 is considered by all inthe video manipulation community as the authority on video issues...

let me quote them from the codec comparison story linked above.

    true dat...

FYI....I capture to hgih bitrate mpeg2(dvd quality) and then clip and convert with Gordian Knot and Virtual Dub...where it gets heavily filtered cause the KNWS signal is utter crap....

youcan tell the difference when you see the game sdone from FSN...much cleaner adn sharper.

    I love the clips, R2K.

Guys, he's not just capturing the signal and posting the file. He's editing, filtering, cleaning the video up, and compressing it, so we can see some of the highlights ESPN never seems to show. I'm amazed these are KNWS caps, they don't look this good on the TV live!

Oh, and I HATE WMV (and RealPlayer). Thanks for putting them in Xvid!

    Good Job Rockets2K, Thanks.

I don't know what fouls you guys are talking about but I didn't see any fouls that should've be called : pushing, shoving, grabbing are all legal for centers these days. It's up to Yao to adjust because the refs are not going to change for him. The only real foul that Yao should have a beef about is when they hit his elbow or wrist when he's in the motion of shooting. We've seen plenty of those in late situations this year.

And reptilexcq, 'Beggers can't be choosers', OK.

Thanks R2K again because I know the amount of time and energy that have to put into this process. People have to understand that it's not a simple process where you click a button and some program will do them all for you. The process needs lot of resource, cpu resource, hd resource, etc. Also the process to figure out the best filters/cropping/optimal bitrate etc is very time consuming. The result is a highly compressive which yeilds the best quality video. R2K can just basically capture the video without all these work to be done on them, in which case will be a waste of bandwith or even make it impossible for all of us to download.

    Great clips. Thanks, Rockets2K!

I cannot believe the refs buy those un-freakin-believable fouls by Ratliff. No wonder Yao feel lost considering he constantly gets stupid offensive foul calls but couldn't get a freebie when he was pushed down on the floor.

Yao should show some emotions and yell at Ratliff and refs, I don't mind if he gives a punch to Ratliff like Ben Wallace did, if necessary. After all, it would take less than 6-game suspension. ;)

R2K explained clearly on why xvid was chosen. But dude has it occured to you to get off and download the xvid codec and install it? Links to the codec have been posten ad naseum in various threads and you can plain google it. Yeah I dont get how you dont have a player to play xvids, windows media player plays them as long you have the codec installed!! You have no idea how stupid ( and i dont like name calling) you came off there.

Also R2K spends a lot of time and effort to do all this for people who cannot see the game (out of towners who can't order league pass, people across the world), so if you want them in mpg or wmv format you do them yourself!!!

its ok....I really guess I should have posted the link to the binary myself.....just to save the trouble....

besides....finding the best binary release of the open source codec Xvid can be confusing sometimes...

so here is the download page for it...

    http://www.divx-digest.com/software/xvid.html

you will want the koepi binary(he does the best ones)....

Im linking the download page so that anyone that is interested can read the associated documentation posted there....

You can use any video player to play the files but I use VideoLAN or MPC both are great

clarification: Xvid and Divx are not the same codec

as YoYo mentioned....any video player you have will play the files as long as you have the xvid codec installed.

go to the link I provided above and download and install the codec, then whenever you play the videos...they will popup in whichever player you normally use (except maybe Real or Quicktime)
