I'll bet you they are targeting George Hill with the 27th pick. If we don't move up and all the swingmen are off the board and Chalmers is off the board, we oughta pick up Hill and make old Kevin swallow his tongue.

Give me a break. Portland is going to have to start cutting players. They have so many freaking draft picks and rookies, young players, etc... How the hell do they have all the money for this? (Paul Allen)

I think its because they will get rid of their 13th pick, but they want to make sure they still have a 1st rd pick.

It's quite possible that is what they intend to do.

    Possibly they're looking to trade up? They've now got the 13th, 27th, 33rd, 36th, and 55th picks.

Westbrook, Alexander, and Rush. Supposedly, the players they like are projected to be out of their range at 13.

1560 the game in Houston talked about the 13th pick today. Lance basically said it is on Houston if they want the pick. We would receive Martel Webster and pick #13 for Battier and 25

It would have to involve more than that. Maybe the deal is out there and we're missing the particulars. Martell makes half of Shane's salary.

I heard it too,a few minutes ago. It was speculation on his part as he himself admitted. However he talked a lot about Portland wanting a veteran like Battier.

I don't think Portland will do it,and in my opinion the Rockets won't accept any such offer either. I feel DM wants to add another scorer but without giving up Shane. I would like to see Webster plus Battier but that's not possible since we don't have the assets for such a move.

i really like the idea of webster and rush @13, but they seem too young to get the job done right away.

we need shane next year more than a rookie and a 22 year old bench player.

then again if this is true, it all depends on how high the rockets are on rush. if he really can be compared to bruce bowen defensively... they may decide to go with it.

thats the genius of Portland buying all these late first round picks.

they are drafting european players who they can stash overseas until they develop. unlike players on the active roster or in the NBDL, these euros don't count against the cap or a roster spot.

don't be surprised if this pick is used on a euro (Ante Tomic?) who is almost ready, but isn't going to come over for a couple years. similar to the fernandez pick last year.

I wouldn't be surprised if the NBA patches up this loophole in the coming years if Pritchard continues to exploit it.

Word is Pritchard is in love with Tomic and the 13th pick would be way to high for him. I agree with you that they are going to deal the 13th pick for probably a veteran.

I'm ready to do this deal. McGrady, Martell, and Rush taking the swing minutes. Portland would have to throw in Jack to make the salaries work. And we've still got BJax and the rest of the expirings to add the final piece at the trade deadline. I am convinced that whoever drafts Rush is going to find out he can facilitate an offense very well from the swing position.

I don't know about Tomic but I'd think Batum will go around #27 and he is a definite candidate for stashing. Portland may have thought #33 would get him until the positive medical report was published yesterday.

(plus you lock him in at the 2008 salary slot, that might be chump change in 09 Euro's)

Man, it must be nice to have all the money inthe world.

From what I'm hearing on Portland radio here it sounds like they are shopping the No.13 pick to multiple teams. They acquired the No.27 because they still wanted someone who they think they can have at 27.

Batum said he isn't going back to France (to play), so whatever team drafts him would have that in mind.

Webster + 13th pick for Battier and 25th hmmm something about that I don't like...can't put my finger on it.

Webster + Frye + 13th for Battier + 25th is the only way i would take this deal, but portland will never accept. This seems weird. 13th is where all the player levels drop off.

There is a lot of talk on Portland sports radio about trading the 13, but the Rockets are never mentioned. i don't know if that's good or bad. Blazers will not be trading us Fernandez, so move on. I think they will keep it together for another year and see what Oden and Fernandez do. They are very focused on having a lot of cap space the year after this, so I don't think they will take on any vets with long term contracts unless it's an incredible deal.

Outlaw + 13th + draft rights to Joel Freeland + salary filler

Rockets traded the 8th pick for Battier they need to try to get back some value for an 8th pick.
