Sucks. Would be more exciting if Pritchard was fired. What are the odds of a former GM going broke like Quitten/Spree?
Paul Allen didn't own the team when the Blazers drafted Same Bowie. That was under a different owner.
I could care less about Pritchard (excepting still being pissed off that he stole Roy), but if this confusion at the highest levels of Portland's management contributes to the team losing a couple of extra games, allowing us to sneak into the playoffs if we keep winning, then Let's Party!

I agree 1,000% I hope they can that Jerk after he basically hi-jacked our draft day trade withe Atlanta to acquire Brandon Roy. Poetic justice!!! For all of the great moves he's made for Portland how in the hell do you pass on Kevin Durant for Greg "Benjamin Button" Oden. Don't get me wrong couldn't happen to a better guy. I HOPE THEY FIRE YOU TOMORROW KEVIN PRITCHARD!! YOU JERK!!!
Yeah, that Utah Jazz series in 07 when they let the Jazz walk all over the court in the 4th quarter of game seven. How many times did Roy shuffle his feet? That travel (2 points) would have been meaningless if they blew the whistle both ways.
[rquoter]Blazers look into hiring new GM By Adrian Wojnarowski, Yahoo! Sports 18 minutes ago The Portland Trail Blazers have empowered a private headhunting firm to research and reach out to potential general manager candidates, league sources told Yahoo! Sports. The use of the firm is further evidence embattled GM Kevin Pritchard has fallen out of favor with ownership and likely will be replaced before next season. At least two current NBA front-office executives have been targeted, sources confirmed, and the firm has also made several fact-finding calls about Oklahoma City Thunder GM Sam Presti. Pritchard lost a power struggle with Blazers president Larry Miller. His top ally and assistant GM Tom Penn was fired late in the season. Pritchard had sought a contract extension last year only to be rebuffed. AOL Fanhouse reported Pritchard’s courtside seat next to owner Paul Allen had been taken away this season. Ownership has refused to give Pritchard a public show of support, and multiple sources say Vulcan Inc., which oversees the Blazers, had become fed up with Pritchard’s egocentric behavior. Sources say some potential candidates are uneasy about the ownership dynamic in Portland. Vulcan Inc. has a history of meddlesome behavior, and some established NBA front-office executives are hesitant over a structure where they fear they’ll have little chance to establish and carry out their own philosophies and organizational framework. With Miller and popular coach Nate McMillan, the Blazers have two powerful and entrenched figures firmly in place. Nevertheless, this is still a largely appealing job because of the solid state of the franchise’s talent base and a motivated and wealthy ownership group. Pritchard is still preparing for the June draft and making cursory calls on potential trades. Agents dealing with him say he’s toned down his verbiage, no longer making bold proclamations about his ability to buy draft picks and move up to snare their clients. It’s clear he can do little, if anything, without the approval of his superiors.[/rquoter] http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=ys-blazerssearch060510
Beat me too it. Was gonna bump up the same thread. Most franchises just hire and fire. Or GMs just resign. The Blazers add some power dynamics that make it a story. A private headhunting firm?
To fully understand poetry, we must first be fluent with its meter, rhyme, and figures of speech. Then ask two questions: one, how artfully has the objective of the poem been rendered and two, how important is that objective. Question one rates the poem's perfection and question two rates its importance. And once these questions have been answered, determining the poem's greatness becomes a relatively simple matter. If the poem's score for perfection is plotted on the horizontal of a graph -- Oh wait, this page has already been ripped out now!
This is good for us because I'm tired of Pritchard going after the exact same talent we go for. Him and Morey are just way too similar.
Which makes his possible firing odd, because Morey is considered GM Jesus. Shows its not about his ability, but about interpersonal behind the scenes matters. Or Lebron is setting it up where Danny Ferry gets moved out, then Pritchard gets let go and hired by the Cavs.
So is Pritchard's "egotistic behavior" the first and foremost reason for the bad blood? What has he done that's so bad? I can only think of the Darius Miles thing, but that was over a year ago.
Basically yes. Supposedly he got too big for his britches, took credit for everything good about the franchise and thought he was indispensable. You can probably find the old links if you look hard enough.
The Trail Blazers might be targeting Jerry West as a potential replacement for current GM Kevin Pritchard. The 72-year-old West has two Executive of the Year awards to his credit and is an intriguing candidate, but it's not even certain that he's interested in the job. What does seem certain is that Pritchard won't last the summer in Portland. Team owner Paul Allen and president Larry Miller both declined to comment on the situation.
