Hehe:D Hehe, besides Yao who shot with a respectable accuracy from the field, the rest of the Rockets(not just the guards) just couldn't make shots.

Stupid Guard play is to blame for this loss nothing else. We should all think Yao Ming that we were even close in this one.

Voices of reason and common sense. Thank you.

Sometimes I was not sure if I watch the same freaking game with other contributors on this thread.

What we need now is a "Danny Ainge" in our coach and GM to do what has to be done and severe dumb redundant players from our team.

We can't go on like this. :(

Wow...first person to criticize Yao! haha.

Anyways..Yao was freakin tired! I don't think he had any energy left to do anything....we need help...hopefully from Piatkowski and Adrian Griffin.

One thing we need to address, and damned fast, is the lack of depth. Of course Piatkowski and Adrian Griffin will return fairly soon (but not soon enough; still, can't blame injuries/surgeries for them being out of the lineup).

I know JVG wants Cato at the bruiser spot, and Cato has played well, but we just saw what playing Yao and Cato so many minutes will do.

Marcus Fizer only played 9 minutes for the Bulls last night, although he is healthy and playing well; we have a trade exception; return to the Bulls their Maloney pick and, say, a 2nd rounder or two (the Bulls can't pay all their youngsters).

Lack of depth, and the tendency to panic and throw away the game plan and revert to chicken-with-its-head-cut-off basketball. Ladies and gentlemen, your Houston Rockets.

Excellent post. This is simply a basic knowledge if you play basketball before. If the perimeter players couldn't shoot, nor did they pass the ball in the proper split second(s), the only way is to adjust to the opponent's tactics with the offensive sets that use Yao's other arsenal.

Look, as few touches as Yao had, we were much worse last night without Yao on the court. He was the only reason why we were close. HAD YAO BEEN A SUPERMAN PLAYING 48 MINUTES PER GAME PUSHING DEFENDERS OUTSIDE WITHOUT BEING CALLED FOUL (please check out the Denver game for those who said the NBA ref wouldn't call foul), WE COULD HAVE WON THE GAME EASILY. Basketball is a team game, you can't ask one man to carry the whole team regardless how well he plays. Tim Duncan is a good example, he needs his supporting core to perform. Otherwise, Spur lost to Denver, etc.

As to the fourth quarter, Yao was obviously tired. Also, did you notice that VG or the guards throwing bricks (3-pointers) in attempt to narrow the bridge then. Interesting, they didn't use Yao as a screen for that purpose. Yao might have been benched just to get a briefer or simply because of the 3-point jump shots demand more perimeter shooter, e.g. Boki, etc.

    :( :( :(

must of the the jumpers francis attemped were good, but hes so afraid of atempting plus 12+ shots a game now that he doest attempt shots anymore. Im sure if he was more involed in scoring Yao would be more loosened. Im surprised that everyone wants to make francis a true pg, but the truth is if you do that, your wasting a big talent. Francis has the best scoring abilitly on the team, but no one wants to use him for scoring...

You are way off the mark. Francis attempted 16 shots last night and only hit 6 of them.

Yao Ming is clearly the best scoring option on the Rockets not Francis. Watch a game or two.

Which you were watching at the time? Frances hit 6 out of 16 wiht 6 TO and 4 assists while Yao was 7 out of 11 with 2 TO, 0 assist and 3 blocks. Mind you, I don't think France was too bad last night. There are others who just dribbled and dribbled.

If you have not watched the game, maybe you should check out the stat here before you blindly wrote.

I believe Yao played on offense this game.

I believe everyone needs to be concerned with his defense. Time after time Yao (or Cato) would just sit back in the lane and allow their man to shoot the open jumpshot. After the first two makes they should of realized that the the Grizz big guys can shoot from the perimeter. No adjustments were made throughout the game and it really costs us in the fourth quarter with Lorenzen scoring 11.

Yao's rebounding is another area of concern as the Grizzlies got about 20 offensive rebounds in the game. Whether it was fatigue or lack of rebounding position, this is one problem that absolutely needs to be corrected.

To me, these were the main reasons we lost the game.

I haven't even read the entire thread, but if you guys want to, the Mavs will trade you Shawn Bradley. Then you won't have to worry about Yao being the reason you lost. Another benefit would be that Steve and Catman wouldn't have to have the ball go through Shawn's hands it would just do that naturally any time he tried to touch it.

I do honestly worry about JVG and Patrick trying to remake Yao in there Eastern Coference image of a center. ie: tire irons in hand to hand combat in the paint. That I think could ruin his game the same way Larry Brown is trying to ruin Darko's talents in Detroit. Both need to learn a lesson from Parcells and emphasis there strengths while trying to cover for their weaknesses. The rockets should be able to get all the thugery they need in the paint from Kelvin Cato and the Invisibleman E Griffin if he ever reappears, or Mo Taylor.

Clutch agrees that Yao deserves some of the blame, so that settles it. End of story. Go back to your homes. Nothing to see here.
