This only shows that the REAL POWER in this country is the TECH COMPANIES.

I'm all for it (most of it).

We have witnessed that human beings are idiots and that the smart humans will create AI to govern and police the majority of idiots.

I work in tech. Skynet buggy af. Can't even kill all humans because of scope and feature creep.

We decided to add shiny new grills for the flying weapons of death!
Uhh what about fixing bugs in the targeting AI cuz we're shooting worse than the meatbags?
Let's put that distraction in the parking lot (thanks HAL!), user engagement for the grills is up 33%!!

The cause is Human nature and base instincts ,Trump and the Republican party are just catering to those instincts.

This is a straight line from Gingrich and Fox news Trump just unlocked everything.

you are correct that it's buggy.

But it's about the DATA. Data Storage is accelerating exponentially.
    And we have data
    for people. everything about them.
    what they look like,
    who their friends are,
    what they purchased,
    their location,
    their salary,
    their occupation.
    their criminal record,
    their medical history

You get the point. Once the technology for predictive analytics advances, we can finally bring SKYNET online. People are not random, they have patterns in behavior.

    It's beautiful.

Don't be quick to welcome your new overlords.

Can you imagine if @Clutch stopped social media posts for this section?

Then people have to actually type in their thoughts and opinions. And stop posting corporate media links (which the corporate media wants you to do!)

This goes back further than that. This is a straight line from Barry Goldwater to George Wallace to Richard Nixon to Ronald Reagan to Newt Gingrich and Rush Limbaugh to the Tea Party. Trump was just being the opportunist. You'll notice that this all went into hyperdrive when Barak Obama was elected President. That's when these people dropped all pretense of civility. What Trump's MAGA bullshit is contending is that the election of a black man as President diminished this nation's "greatness" which could only be "restored" by white Americans reasserting control over those who don't look or think like them. For MAGA to work, you needed scapegoats (Hispanics, Muslims, Blacks) which Trump used to enable his cult to legitimize their personal prejudices and bigotry.

The ironic thing about all of this is that if you repeal Section 230 of the communications act (as Trump wanted to do), all these social media platforms immediately die. They'd be liable for anything said on their platforms, which means they basically would have to shut down or moderate all content before it's posted, which is obviously not particularly viable.
