Yep, Wall is going to average nearly 40 minutes a night and the ball is in his hands on every offensive play for the Wizards. His stats are going to look very impressive. ROY is up for grabs.
Do they still give out co ROTY? I have a strong feeling Griffin and Wall will be sharing that trophy.
John Wall is a sick player. He is WAY ahead of where Derrick Rose was his first 5-10 games. Wall has prepared himself very well for the NBA. His stat line against the Sixers (29 pts, 13 ast, 9 steals, 8 TOs) was crazy but it was more than just a stat line. You gotta watch this guy play. He will be a special player for a long time.
Yes Wall has that "it" factor. Will be scary if his jumper ever improves to the point where it is solid.
His jumper looks pretty good to me and I already consider him borderline scary. His lack of experience gauging himself against NBA competition is his main weakness. I can only imagine how good Wall will be by the end of the season after he learns what his limitations are. I've been a big follower of the Blazers ever since Brandon Roy arrived on the scene. But tonight, I couldn't stop watching the Wizards and Sixers because of John Wall. When I first got home from work, the idea of watching more than 2 minutes of that game sounded crazy.
I think his jumper will be inconsistent throughout the year but I think in a few years it will be consistently solid. I know it hasn't been a lot of games so far this year but it has gotten better from his first game which was probably due to nerves. I'm interested to see how Wall and the Wizards play once Gilbert and Josh Howard get back.
he is must watch TV. this dude is so blurry fast it's ridiculous. and he's arguably on par with rose and westbrook in terms of athleticism at the PG position. i disagree that his J looks pretty good. it still needs a lot of work. but it looks like by year 2 or 3, his J will be a huge strength for him. i think he'll be an all-nba player by year 3. and he truly fits the bill of a franchise player.
It's sad that he had to enter the league during the Heat era. He'll probably have to wait 6 years to have a chance at a championship.
the great players will have the will to be better after every season that they don't win a championship. the way wall plays the game, i see the passion that he has for the game of basketball. he will continue to get better. and you never know with the game of sports. trades/injuries/draft picks... but you're right, the heat will win at least 4 of the next 6 rings.
What a game, BTW! Cartier Martin for 3 to send it to overtime and buzzer shot missed by the Sixers in OT to win it. Watching the last two Wizards game, I think Wall is now the favorite for ROY. He's completely changed the Wizards. Guys are getting more open looks than they ever have before. Waiting to see how Arenas fits in when he gets back from his injury. John Wall's introduction last night: <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/4QN2yp5KJGU?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/4QN2yp5KJGU?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>
Just to be clear, I was speaking rhetorically about his jumper based on a couple of games. What I meant was he is ahead of the curve in that regard. Wall definitely isn't Rondo when it comes to jump-shooting. There will be plenty of games where he lights opponents up in addition to times when he struggles. What is obvious is the work he's put in. Wall has already made a huge step in the right direction and I don't necessarily think his jumper will be a weakness this season. He probably won't be Deron Williams yet, but he definitely won't be Rondo. DCkid, because of last night's game, the Wizards probably pushed their way into my top 5 list of teams to watch this season. Wizards fans will have a lot of fun following their team even if they lose a lot.
Has he bumped Roy off of your top favorite players' list? Cause he's bumped Roy off of mine. It's a shame too, Roy simply isn't as appealing as a player as he used to be. I think he's lost a step. His diva attitude about now having the ball in his hands aggravate me too.
You know, I guess that must be what it is. Yes, Roy is somewhat less appealing now. But for me, Wall has simply pushed and shoved his way into my viewing time. As with Kevin Durant 3 years ago, when you feel like a player will be special, watching them grow into the player they become is priceless. You can see their progression from A to B to C to D. Wall is just about to that point with me. I'll let you know if I'm still watching the Wizards in January. I honestly didn't think another player could reach "Durant status" with me. Wall might get there. Speaking of top 5 favorite players list, mine is definitely in flux right now. KD and D-Rose are definitely there. After them, it's hard to choose the next 3 right now.
what a idiot.... He is clearly of the new era and all about me. I'm not impressed by Wall. Looks like the second coming of Iverson, Marbury, Francis
