I love the way the Clippers announcers are so anticipating his dunks their voice will rise as they are saying something, well before the dunk. this is a phYS I C A L G A M E
This. And technically not a dunk. He threw the ball in the hoop again. Lebron's dunk is still far and away much better. But still very impressive.
Yeah, that's the only thing that brings it down for me. I'm not quite as impressed as everyone here...he got high, added a little flair with his legs, and tried to throw it down hard but there really wasn't an emphatic follow through. Impressive play but it wasn't really a dunk. (says this 5'10 white guy that can't dunk) I think as the Clippers get better I'm going to end up disliking Griffin more and more. I know I'm in the minority. He has great talent but something about him rubs me the wrong way. Kind of like when a lot of us used to hate Shaq just because he was better than everyone.
The "he threw the ball into the hoop, therefore it isn't a dunk" argument has got to be one of the dumbest arguments ever. Lebron's dunk was pretty damn impressive, but John Lucas had no idea he was there. Kendrick Perkins is an excellent defender and he went up with the sole intent to not let Blake dunk the basketball, and Blake still threw it down on him. That's WAY more impressive, in my opinion.
I agree. The level of difficulty in posterizing Perkins who saw Blake coming is about as high as it gets. Jumping over a guy has a nice ring too it for talking about it, but, imo, while fun to watch, it is just another uncontested alley oop to James where he gets super high elevation. And it is not like Lucas is even 6' tall.
Respect to Perk for trying. No need to worry about getting dunked on, you guys got a decent chance at a chip. Blake has h-o-p-s AND he jumped before Perkins and used Perkins' momentum on the way up. Did anyone see Blake shake Deandre off him? Oh and SMH at Durant running out of the paint
Agreed it would have been more epic if he followed through fully but the slow motion replay you can see he actually touched the rim.
No, he didnt...he was suffling his feet like he wasnt sure what he was defending and suddenly realized Blake was taking off, and that's why he was late on the block and why Griffin was able to get up over him. Great play by Griffin, but i prefer going through a player and getting more rim. And what the hell was Jordan doing? It's steve and cuttino all over again.
I'm just not a fan of these dunks where the hand just barely grazes the rim or in some cases doesn't even touch the rim. Dwight Howard's Superman dunk as well as Blake's infamous dunk from last year are not dunks - they are layups. This particular dunk at least the hand grazed the rim so it's a bit more legit. Impressive nonetheless though.
I don't count throw-in's but he touched the rim. Would've been much better had he been able to grab the rim. That would've destroyed any chances of Perkins having an offspring.
If Perkins didn't go up with the intent to not let Blake dunk...why did he jump, then? did he go up to get a better view of the dunk? up close and personal? Maybe we should put a webcam on Perkin's head next time.
I thought it was amazing and I'm counting it as a dunk considering he was still able to touch the rim from so far away. The whole thing just seemed unreal to me. I'm impressed!
Tell me what it is then...jumpshot? Layup? His hand touched the rim, pushed the ball down and made Perkins cry. If that's not a dunk, then no dunk in NBA today is a real dunk.
