Huh? Since when did I become the Blair hater? I like undersized pfs, I'm not trying to discredit Blair at all, but the love for Blair at all is ridiculous. People on the Dish were saying he is a hall of famer, and will be in multiple all star teams after his preseason games. Is he really better than Maxiell, Landry, that dude on the Jazz? You don't read about posters saying those guys will make the Allstar team/hall of hame, and neither of them have the knee issues Blair has. I thought I made it clear in the OP why it should be Blair vs. Chase: Chase was lowest priority in the draft. The Rox can only pick Blair at either JT's spot or at Llull's spot, otherwise the Spurs would get him. If the Rox had picked Blair at JT's spot, all three of our rookies would be available. If the Rox had picked Blair at Llull's spot, both Llull and Chase would be available. You think the Rox would magically bypass their two targets and get Chase? Its obvious he was a "wtf is he still there? Let's get 'im" kind of pick, if they had gotten Blair they would probably stop at the Wafer replacement (JT) and the potential pick (Llull) as getting four rookies would be nonsensical. Creating a poll about Llull and Blair is also nonsensical, I doubt guys here will vote for someone they haven't seen yet over someone who already has a double double game in the NBA under his belt The main reason why I made this poll is some posters keep on making the "we should have drafted Blair, DM would be regretting this for ever and EVUR" posts, and it was getting annoying. I'm saying that if we got Blair we probably wouldn't end up with Chase B, unless he goes undrafted and ends up on our summer league team. And as for saying Blair is best used as a 5...you do know that Duncan was moved to the four in order to avoid wear and tear in his body right? And you do know that someone with a strange knee condition as Blair shouldn't be banging night in and night out right? And you want him to go against legit 7 foot bangers built like houses over athletic but thin guys like KG, Anthony Randolph, David West et al? Not only will he be giving up height in the C position, he'd also be going against guys bigger than he is. Good luck with that, I'm sure he'd have a very fruitful 4 year career. What you do in college doesn't always translate into the pros. Considering his pro career hasn't even reached 5 games, I applaud you for having the foresight to determine what his position for his entire career should be. Bravo
Thank you for making my point for me! So at least you can admit one of the main reasons that you created this thread was to see Blair get trashed by members of the BBS. Look, I have no problem with you personally but when you post about Blair as much as you do, people like me (that happen to be big Blair followers) start to pick up on trends. Your posts on him are all the same: "He is NEVER going to be an All-Star, HOF'er, etc. -- he can blow out his knee at any point -- not worth the risk....blah blah blah". What credible or sane poster on this BBS has seriously suggested that he'll be a HOF'er? Link me to it. Because otherwise you're letting your imagination get the best of you. Nobody in their right mind thinks he'll be a multiple All-Star berth type of player. To suggest that people are running around spewing this type of nonsense is ridiculous. As for Blair's position: it's not hard to analyze a player's skill set and project which position best suits him. By suggesting he should eventually be moved to the four or that it's a wise coaching practice to move a five to the four in order to avoid this supposed "wear and tear" from playing the five is looking like yet another dubious point on your behalf. Not to derail this thread, but this is by no means the reason Pop has played Duncan at both the 4/5 -- it speaks more so to his versatility than it does about a precautionary move by his coaching staff. Now, with Blair he's not particularly quick by PF standards. He is clearly most effective close to and playing underneath the basket. He loves contact and banging down low -- basically he's your old-school bulldog type of player. That's the way he's always played (HS, college, NBA to date). Why would that change now? Seriously, I don't get how some people think that his knee "condition" should determine the rest of his career. That's not how it works.
