If it is racial based, then it is wrong. That being said, I have had mine checked a number of times. Best Buy tends to check my signature on whatever card I use vs what I sign on their machine 100% of the time. Other stores tend to be more erratic.

I thought this was about credit cards? Who uses checks in 2007 besides old ladies? Whoever does deserves all the bad treatment that they get.

I think they're both valid points. Let's say that they only check one race for signature verification? How is that even remotely right?

    :D

i use 1 check a month and thats for rent.

An old lady, obviously, was using a check in front of me at target...well of course we had to sit there for 15 minutes while the manager had to come over and verify it. I could see she had a debit cardin her purse!

I agree with pgabrial. My first thought was not racism, it was how stupid it is for this 70 year old grandma to be holding us up over a signature that I wrote 6 years ago.

I'm not a lawyer, but based on my experience in the insurance industry, they are 100% liable for what their employee does or does not do.

they just did that to me yesterday when I went in and picked up a new mp3 player (samsung yp-k3 for the curious), and since our BB card is in my wife's name, they wouldn't allow me to use it.(I tried, the girl checked my license vs the card)

When I come out of Fry's, Best Buy, Walmart, Sams, TrU, and a couple times Target......they ALL check my receipt and some of them even try to check how many items I have versus the receipt.

I cant claim racial since everyone knows being white is a blank check ...maybe it was cause I look pretty disreputable.

I aughta be used to this by now tho...Ive been discriminated against for being a dirty hippy since 83. :p

I usually just walk by the receipt checkers and say no thanks when they ask to look at my receipt. I did this for about 6 months before anything ever happened. One time a girl grabbed my cart at Costo as I was walking out. I just pushed through and ignored her. Nobody's ever said anything to me when Ignore them at Fry's. The last time I went to Costco, They rang everything up in my cart except a case of water that was in the bottom of the card. They realized this after I had paid for everything else, so they had to do a separate transaction for the water. Afterwards, they only handed me a receipt for the water. I was glowing inside waiting to see what would happen with the security person. I walked up the the security person showed them the receipt for the water, and she said she wasn't supposed to let me leave without seeing a receipt for everything, but she wouldn't tell anyone if I didn't tell anyone. What a joke. Those companies need to stop treating everyone like a freaking criminal. They don't have the right to search through people's things after they have purchased them. Costco especially. The customer brings the cart to the counter, the Costco employee puts the stuff on the counter for the clerk, the clerk, rings everything up and puts it in the cart. Then, gives you the cart back to go have someone else check it. It's totally ridiculous. If there's anything in there that wasn't paid for, it's the clerk's fault for missing it.

If true, then this "class action", cannot hold up. How could you prove that everybody else involved refused to show the receipt?

Because minimum wage workers aren't paid to think things out, they are just told to do this, that way, and that's that.

...if its within the scope of their job. also depends if employer was negligent in hiring. and company won't be liable for crimes committed by employees that were not in the scope of their job.

So for this thing, yeah, TRU would be liable for their employees screwups.

They should also be liable for selling an exclusive Shockwave Transformer using the same mold from 1980 for forty-freaking dollars. Why do you have to put a price on my childhood nostalgia, you bastards.
