so, a black man punches a white woman in the face over an argument about white "privilege" and some posters are suggesting the OP is racist for having the temerity to raise the issue.

    ...informative.

its nothing to debate, he shouldn't have punched her, and no it isn't an "issue" unless black architecture professors go around punching white women on a daily basis

Exactly. There is no reason this thread should exist.

OP and the Basso's main problem is how a black person became a professor and be able to openly debate about privilege with a white person.

    Only in Obama's America

There is something to debate. The 2 stooges are basically claiming that racial profiling by the police is ok (like the ivy league prof) because here's a drunk black professor punching a white woman.

Now they won't come out and say it because it's a weak argument and they know they will lose.

That is is first issue with you.

His secondary point is that you take issue with this because of Obama's Presidency.

the initial argument b/t them seems to be over race, but the sucker punch itself isnt a race issue...this is just a case of some p***y hitting a woman. skin color has nothing to do with that.

what is to debate here? is rush limbaugh going to hold this up as another example of 'obama's america'?

My nicest interpretation is that they are saying Obama or the Left showed bias by condemning the Gates arrest and not condemning this attack. Of course, that would be a dumb argument:

    1. The Gates arrest was front-page news for major news outlets, not just the NY Post.

    2. It was big news before Obama said anything because it involved alleged racism by police, not by a private individual. And not simply racism, but racial profiling, which has been a big issue in the public psyche for a couple of decades.

    3. Obama was asked about it and commented on it because it was major news and Gates was a friend of his. Obama has no link to this story and I don't know if anyone has even asked him about it.

It seems like bigtexxx never really understood the social context of the Gates incident in the first place. Because of his confusion, he is mis-attributing importance to this story, thinking it has the same markings as the Gates story.
