Have you ever heard Public Enemy? It's hard to say they didn't do something positive with their music. Public enemy certainly wasn't about degrading women, or anything like that.

It is obvious from this post that you are a non-conformist when it comes to grammar, sentence structure and clarity.

Just an update. He was not given tenure. He's filing a suit against the University and is looking forward to wreaking havoc.

You had to there now I shall prove my point with the the people you just mention.

**** the Police NWA first verse of the song

**** the police comin straight from the underground
A young ***** got it bad cause I'm brown
And not the other color so police think
they have the authority to kill a minority
    **** that ****, cause I ain't the one
for a punk mother****er with a badge and a gun
to be beatin on, and thrown in jail
We can go toe to toe in the middle of a cell
****in with me cause I'm a teenager
with a little bit of gold and a pager
Searchin my car, lookin for the product
Thinkin every ***** is sellin narcotics
You'd rather see, me in the pen
than me and Lorenzo rollin in a Benz-o
Beat a police out of shape
and when I'm finished, bring the yellow tape
To tape off the scene of the slaughter
Still gettin swoll off bread and water
I don't know if they **** or what
Search a ***** down, and grabbin his nuts
And on the other hand, without a gun they can't get none
But don't let it be a black and a white one
Cause they'll slam ya down to the street top
Black police showin out for the white cop
    Ice Cube will swarm
on ANY mother****er in a blue uniform
Just cause I'm from, the CPT
Punk police are afraid of me!
HUH, a young ***** on the warpath
And when I'm finished, it's gonna be a bloodbath
    of cops, dyin in L.A.
Yo Dre, I got somethin to say

    Geto Boys Crooked Officer

I'm sick of you hoes tryin to run mine
i'm comin with a good line
    Runnin after one time
I got a grudge against you blue suits
Black suits, white suits and state troops
That's the way you made us
Sent a brother to the penenitentiary is how you play us
Lock us up for the summer
took the brother's name away and passed us as a number
Just because you legally pack a gack man
Doesn't necessarily mean you have to point it at the black man
    Especially you black cops
    you let your gacks pop
Because them honkies got you brainwashed
Now we come to new dealings
**** all the dumb ****, the line of work is cap peeling
    I'm cuttin **** short
    Ain't no fillin out reports
Cause you ain't makin it to court
    I'm lettin freedom ring
From the hole in my glock, for ****in off Rodney King
It ain't **** that you can ask us
And since justice is blind, I'm gone buy the b**** some glasses
    Wake the **** up chumps
    I'm comin after your ass
    Crooked officer

As for you regards to degrading women by comparsion you have no room to talk hip hop is also the same music at the same time has talk positive about the importance of women in life in general. Listen to some early 90's and 80's hip hop and stop listen to crap like Solder Boy.

Malcolm, I assume you were mocking yourself or agreeing with me by posting that. Did you read the lyrics or just post them because I mentioned the song. Talking in street slang, cursing and saying F the police is not the slightest bit positive or poetic.

On the Public Enemy stuff, I don't listen to them. I just remember the way they looked and acted. The only song I remeber by them, repeated over and over 911 is joke in your town. Maybe they did something positive, but that is not how your average 80's person will remember them. That just goes to show what everyone is talking about in this thread. The way you look, act, and how you carry yourself will leave a lasting impression on people regardless of if it is how you really are.

Before songs like this was brought out the claims of police brutality were ignored. When these songs came out they claim that this was a fabrication of police beating poor black men. Rodney King gets beat down people automatically assume that he deserved to be struck 52 times by 4 policemen because he had to have done something to deserve it. My claim is the music is street knowledge politically broadcasted toward people of the street who are being ignored. The truth is rap groups like NWA and Geto boys were more important to explaining the problems of these communities than any political person of that decade.

Save it Malcolm, you're just wasting your breath. Some people will just look at the good side of other music and the bad side of hiphop/rap music. There will never be an objective view of all sides of each type of music, it will always be selective.

You have to play by the rules, absolutely. But this is not about playing by the rules or not, it's about whether the rules are fair in the first place.

Everyone has to fit in to the same standard norms. Who chose those norms? Are they still valid? Do they matter?

At which point do we say that we need to maintain our individuality and not just become sheep. Because maintaining different personalities at work and at home will not work forever - the line will begin to blur and the more "aprroriate" personality will come to the top.

One thing, however, that I don't agree with is working for the person you hate and complaining about them but being unwilling to leave. If you want change, then you need to sacrifice right now. If you're not willing to sacrifice some of that good life, then it's not all that important to you.

I know your 100% correct the whole issue I was bringing up was the problems that people don't accept people for what they can bring to the table. Everyone wants people to conform to society which causes no changes for the better for society. They changed the subject to what the the whole report had less to do about.

I don't mean to be a dick at all with this, but you are doing yourself a huge disservice with your grammatical incompetence. You won't be converting anyone to your paradigm if you can't even make the distinction between your/you're and dominate/dominant.

I mean that with all due respect. I don't agree with your premise in the least bit, but you do raise interesting points which aren't completely without merit. Unfortunately, no educated person will take you or your argument seriously if you can't even adhere to accepted linguistic norms.

This from you doesn't surprise anyone, I don't think.

As an aside, it is really ignorant to condemn hip-hop when rock artists die of heroin overdoses every other Thursday. I think if you are an ignorant person no matter what you listen to you will latch on to the few words in the song you understand and dismiss the rest as background noise.

This is your focus. The words that are spoken means much more than what you call proper english. Your failure to understand the value of what people are saying is sad and mostly the problem. You focus more on people conforming to what you think correct. We are a people that talk about change for the better but you want people to change to you lack of values.

The reason he calling out racism is because he was reaching out to individuals who to educate them on historical events and the school outcast them because they are not the type of people they want their school to be associated with. When it comes to racism you need prejudice and power to keep someone from advancing. That’s what the school is doing is using their prejudice against a people who they don't want to be associated with because of undisclosed reasons. He can claim racism because of the school history and treatment of minorities at the school.
