I don't pretend I have the authority to doubt your anecdotal experience. I only know that equality for gays polls far worse among 'religious' people than it does among non-religious people and that blacks are disproportionally religious (Christian). And the views of blacks on equality for gays is lower than it is among non-blacks. And sorry but I equate anti-gay sentiment with hate. I look forward to the day that this isn't so, but while I am happy to learn of the tolerance of those in your neighborhood their views are apparently not reflective of African-Americans as a whole. A more appropriate title for your thread would have been [Blacks in my neighborhood] They don't hate.
I was at this party yesterday, and there was this stunning black girl from Miami. She was insanely hot, and the way she danced was so sexy. What was this thread about again?
Your logic here is "I know that A is usually B, B is sometimes C, therefore I'm pretty sure that A is C!" Have you ever been to a black church? Every single musician is gay. There would be no post sermon hymns without them!
That's actually not his logic. Ironically, given your closing church sentence, it's your logic. His logic, though unsubstantiated with links, points more to scientific polling, that's supposed to be representative of the the whole group of people. This thread is funny. Bunch of guys talking about the their select experiences, their barber shop, their church, their pro-gay christian friends. there's something like 40 million african americans in the US. you would think if one is trying to generalize the whole group, they'd at least provide some kind of scientific support...
Man, Batman is right. It's crazy how many people here are debating this. I know a black person that doesn't like rap. This is proof that rap isn't popular among black people. That's the same faulty logic being used to argue that black people are not against gay rights and the same logic used by many racist white people who have seen black people dressed like street thugs and speaking like ignorant fools arguing that all black people are that way.
Exactly. The people who live near Westboro Baptist Church could tell you that all Baptists hate gays and want US soldiers to die as a punishment from God upon America. That would be an inaccurate way to describe the majority of "baptists" however.
Generalizing every musician in every church as a homosexual was in no way meant to be taken seriously. My goodness dude, relax.
I don't think 'we' hate Chinese basketball players but I think they are more liable to be made fun of as a whole by blacks, whites, etc. Somewhat true. The part I disagree with is the "only" part. I had a similar situation as the barber I went to was gay and served a black community. Sure, people went and still go to him for his services but when away from him many of them would poke fun at him, call him names, etc. There were many that refused to use him because of his sexuality as well. I don't consider this any different than how a gay white barber would be treated either though.
