Yes, and the probably would have been disbanded. I'm glad to report there was no "security" standing outside my polling location, and nobody with a weapon. Does anyone believe they were really trying to work as security?
Fair enough. I'm not familiar with the BP enough to make that call, so in this case, perception is reality.
That's voter intimidation. What do you need a night stick to vote? Does the touch screen need nightstick swings in order to cast the ballot? There's always got to be loonies on end or the other. I hope they put officers on overtime and in the streets, in case, of riots. If people will riot for a baseball game, imagine what will happen after the election.
I think they might've thought they were working security. I'm not familiar with the neighborhood they were at but Philadelphia is a heavily African American city and if the Panthers were out to intimidate white voters Philadelphia doesn't seem like the place. My guess is that these guys had some idea that some people might come out and try to tamper with the innercity minority vote and in their mind they were going to be there to stop that. Now this is all speculation on my part and even if this is what they were thinking it was still very stupid.
I watched that online live via the fox stream. (they stream with the cameras even when they aren't live on tv etc.) It was pretty crazy.
TPM summary: All in swing states; most shot down in the courts. Thankfully, unlike, say, purging tens of thousands of (mostly black) people in Florida in 2000 because their names were similar to felons (if the felon was named Mike James Smith, Mike Ronald Smith would be purged as well), this race wasn't close enough for such tactics to be effective.
Not really and admit that was pure speculation on my part. For whatever reason these Black Panthers were there it was pretty stupid of them and they should've known their presence would be used as fodder for the likes of Fox News.
Oh, well then I will educate you a bit about West Philly. West of the Schuylkill River, in what is the western portion of Philadelphia, this is where I was born and raised. Whilst there, I spent most of my days on the playground. Generally I was maxin' relaxin' all cool, shooting some b-ball outside of my school. Then one day, a couple of guys who were up to no good started making trouble in my neighborhood. So I got in one little fight and my mom got scared, She said 'You're movin' with your auntie and uncle in Bel Air' Spoiler SISHIR GOT BEL AIR'D! *I thought you'd never take the bait. That is my first ever BEL-AIR ing of somebody on the interwebs.
Bel-Air'd is 100x more awesome than Rick Rolling, because you get halfway through the story before you realize it.
