Eagles owner Jeff Lurie has a press conference scheduled for today at 1:30 PM.

There's a lot of speculation in the Philly area because Lurie generally doesn't speak with the press after the season is over and nobody has guaranteed Reid will be back next season. The three main topics that are expected to be discussed are:

    1. Reid's future

    2. Castillo's future

    3. Jackson's future

I guess we'll see what happens.

That has a lot to do with an overall crummy roster on D. He's improved them significantly from last year, both in points and yards given up.

Their secondary blows, and their front 3 isn't exactly stout.

He is overrated. Take away the Ryan last name and you have just a fat guy who needs a haircut.

    Some of Eagles' Loria:
Happy New Year and thanks for coming. I know its unusual for me to hold a postseason press conference. Its been an usual season. Its a long season. Not about each game. It was a frustrating and disappointing season since I owned the team. You're only human. You go through all the emotions during the season. You think you have, you're coming off an NFC championship. You're not thinking, if you are aggressive in FA, and continue to improve the team with young players and Vick was 2nd to Brady in MVP, no way and myself would imagine we'd be sitting here with the season ending. Its not only unacceptable but disappointing. If you arent disappointed or anger, you dont get what we're about. Andy is used to being in the playoffs. Its unacceptable to be 8-8 and watching these other teams next week. With that said....the first half of the season, I viewed us not the way the media did. I said NO and GB were the most formidable teams. I was hoping by taking player moves and changing schemes, it would bring us closer. We were looking at GB that had 17 players injured entering the playoffs. Them getting players back, they were a step ahead of us. The first half of the season for us was dismal. Unfathomable. In certain games we played well and saw what we hoped what we could be. There was no sustaining of excellence what so ever. The team did come together at the end in the last month but that was too late. No reason for it to take that long and come together. A lot of optimism from that coming together. A lot of good will and optimism and confidence going forward but to think there are excuses for taking that long is misplaced. There is good that happened in the last month and there has to be realism looked at as well. I thought this season was most complicated to analyze in recent memory. When the big decision, what to do about the HC and coaching staff, to that effect, I spent weeks trying to analyze that, internally and externally, really trying to evaluate the team and players and coaches, all of it, the things I look at, one is the track record of coach, taking look at short term of the coach and last is the intangibles. The intangibles are the overriding factor. Looking at the HC, does he have the fire in his belly? Andy Reid, not only has the players respect, but has the fire in his belly. Those are some intangibles. I want to see our team coached by Andy Reid next year. The best coach to try and win a championship with is Andy.

    Andy's staff remaining the same?

    That's Andy's area.

How much is it a factor that you are making the playoffs but not winning?

    You factor it all in.

More conflicted this year about his fate?

This was one of the more disappointing years. It is not enough just to make the playoffs. Its the precursor to the super bowl but this year was the most difficult for me. The goal is to win a super bowl, not just make the playoffs.

    Who is accountable for 8-8?

Everyone is. If I didnt think next year we would be substantially better, I would be here announcing a coaching change.

    Reason for 8-8?

There so many. None are legitimate excuses. I thought we would've been able to adapt to schematic changes but clearly the team was not gelling. I hold everyone accountable for those scheme changes but there are payoffs for when it does happen. If we blow one less game, we're playing Atlanta.

    ...

tl;dr - Andy Reid, Howie Roseman, Joe Banner

    Wow.

    Go 14-2, and get fired.

Go 8-8 miss the playoffs, and lose a mediocre division? Good job!

IMO, they are making a mistake bringing Norv Turner back.

he should have been fired a while back. Norv Turner is a crappy coach but good offensive coordinator. There is no way a team that stacked can't get to the super bowl.

Norv Turner is like the Chargers version of Kubiak. Except Kubiak took over a horrible roster instead of a stacked 14-2 team.
