I've done blue collar. Been a hell of a long time, but I've done it. I've worked construction, worked in a factory, worked in the production side of a newspaper, the guys that bundle it up and ship it out. You don't think an intellectual liberal doesn't have to put on an act to get along in that world? Think again. Keep D&D Civil.
the difference though is that in the corporate world your perception of you by your co-workers can really hinder your advanvement.
No doubt, I have been both blue collar and white collar, and from my experiences, I found the Blue Collar job more real, people being themselves, whereas the white collar world is very political - everyone protecting their image and saying whatever their boss wanted to hear. I am still in that world, but I don't really fit, as I am blunt and to the point, real. Which helps me in some companies but also scares others off. Which is probably why I start my own companies anyway. DD
yea as owner folx kiss ya butt and you don't have to kiss theirs That is why I love the internet in the future. . hopefully. . .the own/business partner can be completely anonymous Rocket River
So if I go to work in a suit, I am requesting respect and might get it. If I go to work with a white wife beater and baggy pants I might not get any respect. Darn these stereotypes to heck!!!
Ouch! Of course in the words of a great Chinese Martial Arts master "It is not the size of the sword but the skill of the swordsman.."
