This study found the amount of increase in unemployment, INCREASED the effect employment had on suicides.

Every 1% increase in unemployment was associated with a 0·79% rise in suicides at ages younger than 65 years...3% increase in unemployment 4.45%

We just got a 10% increase.

 

I think it’s extremely odd and with our countries history it points to that. But it just feels so odd given the timing and number , nobody noticing etc. that’s the part that gets me. I know the cops are incompetent but wonder why they labeled it as suicide too

 

I read on Facebook that it was from a tree, take it for what it's worth.

 

Conversely how would five suicidal Black men coordinate to hang themselves from trees in one week? Which is harder to believe? Especially given the history of our country's record on race and policing.

If one hangs himself, he doesn't die immediately. There's a chance he'll be found in time to save his life.

If one hangs someone else, he can take care that the body is not discovered in time.

But the real WTF of this all is that people do not commit suicide in public unless they're trying to make a statement. Does anybody believe that 5 guys made a suicide pact in order to fake some lynchings in order to make a statement?

There is almost nothing I can imagine that is more unbelievable than 5 public suicides by hanging happened in one week. Especially to Black men. Especially during the civil rights movement that's going on in this country right now.

I call the highest manner of bullshit on this. This is literally beyond belief.

 

Dude I know suicides are not uncommon and actually on the rise. I don't think anyone questions that. In fact just about three years ago, one of my team members at work killed himself. Black guy, mid twenties and was as nice as could possibly be. Did not give off any signs of depression. It completely rocked the entire crew for a bit.

What people are questioning is the manner in which these 4 or 5 happened. It does not fit with a typical suicide. One? sure let's say the guy couldn't think of another way. He was apparently living in a tent. Five though? You seem to be skimming over the fact that people don't typically do it this way in public. If i'm wrong on that, I would be happy to hear about all the other people who hung themselves publicly on a tree in the last year before all this unrest.

 

Hispanic people can be black, white or brown. This doesn't tell me anything.

it does sadly kinda make sense for homeless people. Maybe it happens more often than we think, but now it becomes clickbait.

 

If he was living by the golden gate bridge he might have opted for that. Hundreds try it a year. Look at the location of the dirt lot on google maps. Just horrible.

I think people are all just glossing over that those Trump buck$ are long gone and there are literally bodies in the streets from our unprecedented 10% jump in unemployment combined with isolation. It's sad. combined with no one gives a **** about this guy unless he was lynched.

 

If they made a movie called 2020 and released it 5 years ago no one would believe it. People have lost their minds

As fcked up as this sounds, I’m really hoping these are suicides and not actual lynchings. I also can’t help but think that if they did have video evidence of a lynching, they wouldn’t dare release it.

A man was found dead Monday in an apparent suicide outside a store in the Shady Acres community, Houston police said.

Police only identified the man as Hispanic. The Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences will determine his identity and official cause of death.

Houston police homicide detectives are currently investigating the death in Houston, but they do not suspect foul play, police said. Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo said that the man's family members indicated he was suicidal.

 

I have way too much experience with suicides. I'd have to do work that I'd rather not do in order to remember how many of my friends have killed themselves. It's well over 5 and probably over 10. (That's not as unusual as it sounds if you know me and the work I'm in and the brand of that work that I'm in.)

Of those cases there was a grand total of one that did it outdoors and he was 13 (I was too). He hanged himself from a tree in his backyard while his parents were out of town and there was no danger of him being discovered.

Public suicides are extremely rare, except in purposeful news-making cases, and none of those are coordinated.

Nothing about this makes any kind of sense. Maybe 1 was a public suicide but, even if that were so, the others doing so in the same week would represent 4 hells of a coincidence.

If there were coordination, it would have been among hate groups or killers. People that are desperate enough to end their own lives do not coordinate across state lines to do it. They're far too hopeless for that.

This just doesn't happen. Ever.

Agreed. Multiple black men deciding to hang themselves from trees as their form of suicide? I find that very hard to believe.
