yeah, a big conspiracy of the community agitor i mean organizer to hire a buch of cops, because he put his foot in his mouth about one stupid incident he was asked a specific question about.

so basso, do you have a problem with hiring more cops that also serves to help stimulate the economy?

if Gates is wrong then Gates should apologize I agree.

but if Crowley is wrong then Crowley should apologize right?

Or both could maintain their pride, say nothing and call a truce. Both men think they're right, facts at this point are meaningless because neither will back down.

i do not have such a problem, i just think the timing is suspicious. and, the question was a plant. Obama prepped for it, which makes his answer all the more hilarious.

Very very true, but chances are it's for a truce like circumstance, like "ah, let bygones be bygones" such. It's not going to be like Gates or Crowdly breaks down at the end and says I'm sorry for making such a fuss, it's all my fault. I think no apologies will come of this meeting.

as usual you should do more research Its really not hard, I think you actually know how to use the interwebs fairly well

With a flourish, President Obama signed the $787 billion stimulus package into law on Feb. 17. But he's still giving it the hard-sell and hitting back at its critics.

This morning, Obama sang its praises in Columbus, Ohio, at a graduation ceremony for 25 police cadets are joining the force, instead of being laid off before starting their beats, with stimulus money.

With the uniformed cadets arrayed behind him on stage, Obama admonished those who argued that the stimulus was "unwise and unnecessary" to talk to the teachers, nurses, firefighters, and the Columbus cadets who still have their jobs thanks to the plan.

"This country has never responded to a crisis by sitting on the sidelines and hoping for the best," he said, citing the extended unemployment benefits, healthcare provisions, and tax credits that will show up in bigger paychecks April 1.

He also announced that $2 billion in grants for more cops, prosecutors, probation officers, crime prevention programs, and equipment are now being made available. (The White House fact sheet on the money is below.)

    suspicious timing indeed

link? and please not from some rumor circulating on the winger blogosphere

the article is from March- this appears to be new money. point stands.

as for the question, you'll have to find it on a winger blog, since it's not the type of thing the Times or Newsweek would report, damaging as it is to The Won.

Already suspect. Do people realize, if the news is this juicy, anyone would report it?

So, you are willing to believe some winger's unsubstantiated claim about a planted question?

Just goes to show that some people are more than happy to put ideology over truth.

    from the NYTimes:

    http://www.nytimes.com/2009/07/25/us/politics/25gates.html?_r=2&pagewanted=print

[rquoter]Mr. Obama first discussed with aides how to address the arrest during a meeting before his Wednesday news conference. Aides said Mr. Obama, a Harvard-trained lawyer, zeroed in on the fact that the arrest came after police confirmed that Professor Gates was in his own home.[/rquoter]

it's pretty clear he prepped an answer, and reached out to a sympathetic reporter to ask the question.

No, it is "pretty clear" that he discussed the incident with aides and it is pure winger speculation that he "reached out" to a reporter.

I really wish y'all would stop just making **** up.

look, I'll be the first to admit that his answer was out of touch. he clearly didn't have a guage on how people would feel if he stood up for Gates

but there still is no proof the question was planted

Why is this still being discussed? I thought once we moved the topic to beer it would end. It is a minor local issue that has been dealt with.
