I think the best "door buster" deals will be online again similar to last year. Last Black Friday, there was an outpouring of deals on BestBuy.com Frys.com and other electronic sites -- I could see the same thing happening this year.
The Wal-Mart i work at never closes, open 24-7 except Christmas Day. People start lining up at 9 PM, we have have 10-15 super deals every year, and each one gets it's own Astroworld style line. The term we all use for black friday is the blitz, no joke, it's the formal term the managers use. I was tasked with manning one of the super deals last year, i usually work overnight, in receiving, which is where i like to stay, away from the customers. But on Black Friday, words don't describe it. I needed a cattle prod to keep people organized. You would be shocked how hard the concept of a line is to some people. Cops are at the ready, and the noise. Football games have less noise. So many people, and you get asked the same questions for 8 hours. Where does the line start, followed by a bewildered look when you point the line out to them. It's actually kind of a fun change for one day, to break from the extreme monotony you get used to, sure as hell wouldn't want to do it all the time though.
http://www.fatwallet.com/black-friday/deals.php The ad filter that was pretty popular last year is back again this year from Fat Wallet. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AmJum8EgQyu6dGdCOGd3UEdXSERacnQ2NEF2UGYtUGc#gid=0 And this is the excel spreadsheet that has been released so far for the ads that have come out.
No savings can justify being in such close proximity to the filthy, rude, and sometimes dangerous mobs that crawl out of their hole during Black Friday. Hopefully, Amazon or Best Buy will have some good online deals, because going out the day after Thanksgiving is like driving on New year's Eve, not worth the associated risk.
The online stores have caught the Black Friday and Cyber Monday fever and often have better deals than the Brick and Mortar offers. I know folks that go participate just for the "fun" of it though.
I go for the fun. There is a certain rush and sense of accomplishment that comes with Black Friday shopping.
No, no it isn't. It's desperation, it's greed, it's disgust, it's pity, it can even be fear, but it's not fun. No, it's certainly not that.
Some people just have fun. It's not like that everywhere you go. I can understand if you've probably seen a lot of this happen, but it certainly doesn't happen everywhere you go. That said, I've lost the fun of it these last few years because of the lack of enticing deals.
Not for me. You choose to look at the negative. I'm happy I got my Washer and Dryer in advance, because now I'm not worried about getting anything. There won't be disappointment or desperation. Most people I meet during BF are very nice.
That 42inch 3D Vizio TV in the Walmart looks nice. To all the tech guys on the board: Is the price pretty good for what is being offered?
I really want to buy a 32" LCD TV online. I don't want to go to any stores to deal with crazy people on BF. It is going to be our first time looking for a TV. Last time, we bought a TV was back in 2007. Any ideas that Cyber Monday deals are good for TVs?
I do it for fun, but I'd have to go for something worthwhile. The past few years, it was just for games/movies, not a TV, system, or BluRay player, although I did camp out with my cousins in '09 at Best Buy when they bought their $170 netbook. The games/movies I see on sale, Amazon price matches it and don't have to go in line anymore. The only big thing I'm looking for this year, is a Honeycomb tablet, which I'm probably gonna have better luck buying from these 1sale a day websites since I've seen plenty of them the past 2 weeks.
ok my plan is to go to walmart for the XBOX kinect bundle, but im confused cause in the ad it appears like that bundle goes on sale thursday at 10pm as oppose to the other XBOX gear of wars bundle which looks like it goes on sale Friday at midnight.. am i right about this?? also there are a few other items i would like to get for family.. does this mean each item has its own line and in return wont be able to get the other items i want?? sorry to be a "customer" and bug you but i would appreciate your answers or advice cause after watching black friday go by year after year with no money, this is the FIRST year i will be able to spend money! thanks!!!
I'm not sure what the other things you plan on grabbing are, only the black friday super deals get the lines. There are usually about 10-15 scattered throughout the store. First come first serve and most of them go quick. If you aren't in line, you aren't getting it. If you plan on getting in on 2 of the super deals, you can't do it by yourself. You'll need to bring another person to wait in the other lines. Not all of the super deals end up with long lines, but the best ones certainly do. You can see early which ones attract a crowd. You can check the website the day before to see what item's you'll need to line up for. I think we even have maps this year. I advise to bring a friend to wait, while you shop. The lines usually go fairly quick once the selling starts, but while waiting, customers gobble up all the good deals. We'll start selling most stuff at 10, a few of the big items at 12 though. Like i said check the website. You may not need to wait in a line. Arrive early and you can get a feel for whats grabbing attention.
Each Wal-Mart is different. Ours last year I got there about 30min before midnight, and a lot of the stuff was already gone. They wouldn't let us checkout yet, but they had let people go after it as soon as it was on the floor. Others leave the stuff wrapped and unwrap it when it is time. I'm not sure how the console deals will work, because I've never bought one on BF. I don't know what kind of supply they have.
Just depends on the site, but I've seen some start at 12 AM eastern time on Black Friday morning... some may start at 12 AM pacific time. I've also seen some start at 5 AM central, so yeah it really depends but I would use either fat wallet or slickdeals and their Black Friday forums for this. People usually get info on what doorbusters are being sold at certain places online and so you'll know what, when, and how to get it.
