+100 I purchased a Pioneer Elite/Kuro pro 141fd a year ago. Although it was pricey, the TV is a fine example of buying quality over the crap they sell at Walmart. The ultra-deep blacks and vivid colors provide this dimensionality I have never seen, even in current high-end LED or LCD flat panels.
Then one good bumping of the plasma TV while transporting it can result in the gases being ruined it in. (Happened to a couple of my friends). Plasmas show better picture in my opinion. But I'm perfectly fine to have went with next-best LCD. No screen glare either, very useful in my home setup. (I just hate how CHEAP the TV is now compared to years ago . Damn "early adopter" crap )
Yep, but now as LED gets bigger, Plasma's will slowly disappear. LED with those high contrast ratio's and thin builds are really nice, though expensive. OLED is the next best thing which will be available in the coming years. LED are better TVs than plasma's.
No they won't and no they're not. They are just newer, and hence more expensive. That's why the manufacturers push them, higher margins. Try to find a place ot do a side-by-side comparison, don't even look at which is plasma and which is lcd or led And let your own eyes tell you the truth.
I got a Westinghouse tv 40inch tv from target this morning. It was on sale for 298. They literally were gone in the first 5minutes.
New plasma technologies have made the burn in issue a non-factor, that was an argument against plasma a few years ago. And brightness is actually a strength for LCD/LED.
What about the durability? I'm not fond of replacing whatever in it breaks every few years for hundreds of dollars.
They were there for the full 2 hours I was there this morning, it was actually not too crowded at Target this morning
I snagged a $98 Sansui 19" HDTV from Wal-Mart (got the last one around 10:30 AM). Sure, it's not the best quality, but it was dirt cheap and perfectly acceptable as a desktop TV.

didn't pick up any big deals but got some cheap games and blu-rays Like I finally got the God of War collection, for only 10 bucks. I've been meaning to play that series but haven't yet. Red Steel 2 for 10 bucks also.
I skipped out this to camp out anywhere, wasn't really a big product out there I wanted to buy other than some Blu-Rays, and Amazon price matched those and ordered it through there, no tax, free shipping my cousins and I just went to Katy Mills at 1am to see how it was. To my surprise it was crowded like a normal weekend crowd, but died down at around 3-4am. Sales weren't too bad, Ecko had buy get one 50% the whole store, Pac Sun had 40% off the whole store, and Lids had some nice discounted caps, got 2 $10 Rockets hats. We drove to First Colony afterwards, and wasn't much there. got home after 8am, slept, woke up at 4pm, and now my sleeping pattern is out of wack if it wasn't already.
I'm looking for a TV for the kids room. Do you guys think this one would be good. http://www.walmart.com/catalog/allReviews.do?product_id=15052130
