Got a question about promotion offers from Dell. Right now, I can get an extra 7% off of Dell items because I am an employee at Arkansas State University, which comes to another $55 taken off the set. Now when I add this to the cart and go to checkout, it goes through fine but I am wondering if I use my girlfriend's Dell account, will the discount not apply because she is not employed at the university. Anybody know the answer to that?
I agree. Some of the newer LCD's have a lot of glare. I still prefer an unlit room for a plasma though. Doesn't have to be a dark theater room, but it cannot have a lot of sunlight or artificial light.
Well tinman, we ordered this set tonight. With my discount, the total came to $802. Hopefully Dell doesn't screw us again with this order and hopefully I have it before Thanksgiving. I have heard Dell is pretty quick with shipping. We'll see but I'm not getting my hopes up until the order says it is shipped.
Congrats Pun! I have a 46 inch Sharp LCD that I got last year on Black Friday and it is a thing of beauty. HD is gonna change your life.
the bdp-350 sony player will be under 200 bucks on black friday, i'm sure you can find around 200 pretty soon online its got great reviews. if you don't feel like dropping $400 for a ps3. sears:
you'll get it. its the same tv that's going to be on sale for about $20 less on black friday. i'm guessing its better you bought now so they'll be guaranteed one instead of clicking online to see that its sold out next week.
so again , you need to get the hdmi cables, which can buy online or cheap at frys. post again when you get the tv, you also need to setup the tv settings. usually the default settings are bad. you need to make sure charles barkley looks black and yao doesn't have a tan. but you can find recommended settings online somewhere.
Already bought HDMI cables when I ordered the last one so I don't have to worry about those. I'll post when I get it. Where is the best place to find recommended settings? BTW, when shipping Dell usually uses UPS or DHL. If this tv is indeed shipped, is there anyway I can get their local receiving offices to hold the tv until me or my girlfriend gets off work? I don't think anybody will be here during the day to sign for it.
i have no idea, call them. usually ups, they leave you a note and you can call them and pick it up at their warehouse. usually on big tvs, most companies call you and setup a delivery time.
Here's another question, if I do get the TV how do I switch my PS3? I remember when I first received my PS3 it was in HDMI mode but I had to switch it, I believe I started a thread on that actually. How do I get it to HDMI again? The TV's expected shipping date is Monday. I was hoping it would be shipped today.
there are plenty of ps3 people here. just start a thread called ps3 help. i'm sure you just plug in the hdmi instead of the other connection and thats it. oh, i guess you have set your ps3 to 1080p
Hold your PS3 power button down for 15 seconds. It should reset itself and re-detect which connection you are using.
since you saved so much cash, are you considering getting a surround sound system? there's this 'soundbar' from sony that's suppose to be pretty decent and really cheap. plus, its going to be way better than tv speakers. (black friday best buy) http://reviews.cnet.com/home-theater-systems/sony-ht-ct100/4505-6740_7-32923460.html?tag=mncol;lst The good: Superslender soundbar home-theater system eliminates the need for an AV receiver; comes with a potent subwoofer; three HDMI inputs; supereasy setup. The badThe bad: Subwoofer-based connection jacks may require creative placement or cable runs; only supports four AV sources (plus Sony's proprietary DM Port accessories). The bottom lineThe bottom line: Sony's HT-CT100 soundbar/subwoofer audio system is a phenomenal value that sounds great with movies and music.
