Future people, who were intended to be Americans by the ratifiers of the 14th Amendment, would be denied their citizenship by a novel interpretation embodied in this EO. If it's a new amendment, fine. But that's not what's happening here.

I don't think we do need to hear from SCOTUS in this. The meaning of the Amendment is very clear and the supreme court precedent is clear. There is only downside risk in hearing from them. Either they will affirm what we already know, or they'll do something crooked.

Turley, unsurprisingly, is trying to run a smokescreen here. As already interpreted by Scotus in US vs Wong Kim Ark, the intent of that jurisdiction phrase is to exclude Native American tribes who held sovereignty and hostile invaders in our country by force. Neither pertain to the current situation. But MAGA is trying hard to call immigrants invaders to pretend like it does.

There are plenty of pathways to permanent residency in the USA. Millions take and have taken those pathways.

Slipping out of your mom's vagina is the only reason you are American. There is nothing intrinsic in your birth that makes you American outside of location.

You were born human. That is what the tribe should be. "The human tribe". But we have low IQ idiots like you who don't allow for that

One of which, per the actual Constitution of the United States of America, is being born in this country regardless of who your parents are or how they got here.

Per the actual 14th Amendment of the Constitution of the United States of America, it's literally real news.

Every country in the world maintains borders, regulates movement and grants citizenship based on certain qualifications.

I see you only ******** on America for doing so.

    Typical.

Every country doesn't destabilize entire regions of the planet so some defense contractor shareholders and executives can maximize their return on investment through resource extraction and labor exploitation of the global South ther creates situations where people need to migrate.

Whenever after your fifth beer after roughing up your spouse a bit you feel the need to commit a DUI with your Dodge Ram because you need some midnight Taco Bell understand that and entire network of illegal immigration labor being exploited allows you to do that.

Oh, of course, everything bad in the world is Americas fault. If America hadn't gotten involved anywhere in the world it would just be Candyland and Utopia.

    These leftists are insane.

The reality is the American led world order has seen the greatest global reduction in poverty in human history and a commiserate standard of living which has never been higher. Everyone should wake up and give thanks every day the United States of America leads and maintains the world order.

Most things bad in the world is a product of states, empires, individuals in power concentrating said power to a point that nothing holds them accountable.

The human brain isn't meant to have access to unaccountable power. It fries the brains of those who do have it. America isn't unique in this aspect.

Numbers in regards to lifting people from poverty globally.... "Lifting from poverty" essentially means industrialization of a nation.

So that means you have to ask questions like "were subsistence farmer in rural India before western expansion having better quality of life without industrialization than their current condition of living in a corner of a condemned building under a slumlord in Mumbai?". Because in the ledger, a economist would say that subsistence farmer improved conditions because they became industrialized.

But with that industrialization, loss of ownership of land, loss of autonomy of your own labor etc occurred. So are they truly living better lives now that they own nothing and have to work 60 hours a week to keep their little corner in their slum apartment?

He's correct. Doesn't make her an American, but it does make her baby an American.

Explain to me how an Indian work permit holder can get PR without marrying a US Citizen. EB1 requires a PHD and peer reviewed research that is cited by others and even that takes several years (but at least it's under 10 years). EB2 and EB3 is 40+ years at a minimum.

Seriously explain the pathway to PR for Indians because no one in the Indian community seems to be aware of these pathways.

Its posts like these where I feel like you are doing this whole thing as a parody of right wingers.

Like yes people don't want to move to Gaza because it's leveled and funded by American tax money.

Not sure if you are making fun of right wing people now.

Not really. All of the family categories have big backlogs. The only ones that don't are being married to a US Citizen (which has no cap so no backlog) and being a child under 21 (which again for Indians doesn't matter since the parents are dealing with 40+ year waits).

The other family categories (unmarried children over 21, married children over 21 and siblings) have backlogs ranging from 10 to 20 years (and the backlogs can retrogress and get longer instead of shorter over time depending on how a year's allocation goes).

I knew they had crazy waits, but didn't know there were quotas for immediate family too.

if you were born in America you are entitled to citizenship, it is in the 14th amendment to the constitution that Trump just took off the whitehouse website....so people can't fact check his dumb ass.
