hey now you said you would expect comments like these if you insist on getting him something then i would go for like a night out of something..concert, major sporting event even if its not on his actual birthday...for me i tend to remember events and appreciate them a lot more than an item. like you can get him a video game and he'll play it and all but 5 years down the line he may just have it in the closet collecting dust take him to an event and he will remember that more fondly then let him do you in the butt
