Regardless, do you think an 11-12 year old is responsible enough to remember to take her BCP every day? Who's paying for this? I would be up in arms if I found out my school taxes were funding birth control pills for 11 year old girls.
1. You cannot expect an 11 or 12 year old child to fully appreciate the risks associated with prescription medicines and being able to accept those risks. 2. If the parents do not know, and something bad happens, they cannot give the medical personnel good info on what medications she is taking. This is dangerous. 3. The next time the child gets strep or something else that requires antibiotics, the parents will not know to tell their family doctor. The antibiotics can greatly reduce the effectiveness of the pill.
