No, you are blowing the whole "Ground Zero Mosque" thing way out of proportion to demonize people that don't agree with you. I am not even one of the people against the mosque.

You are using a slippery slope argument, so allow me to counter with same. If every time you considered doing something you based your decision on the reaction of potential Muslim extremists, who are you putting in charge of your actions? I DON'T CARE if this: is one piece of the puzzle, builds on the notion that the West doesn't like Islam, shifts people in a direction, begets fear, widens a gulf, creates tension, moves us closer to a clash, is another straw on the camels back, is another crack in the dam, is another drop in the bucket, frays the rope, or any other statement of incremental effect.

Good for them, I don't let what other people think affect my choices. I would not go to a different church, school, or job. I certainly would not strap on a bomb and attack their nearest ally. The odds of a protest at a far away church, school, or job (like one in the middle east or Pakistan) affecting me are likewise zero, even if they show it on TV here. At most I would call the protesters idiots on a message board.

Yes, I can understand that a small group of idiots protesting the location of a mosque is not a big deal, as well as the fact that other idiots think it is a big deal. I am not going to shout down one group of idiots to mollify the other group though. If I did decide to do so, I wouldn't favor the idiots that are threatening violence against Americans.
