Holy cow, the kid is using the move now, didn't say he perfected it. Dream didn't perfect his dream shake until years after his rookie season. Nowhere am I disparaging Olajuwon and have opined that I don't believe there will be another Dream. I think you are seeing ill will and negativity where there really isn't. Far from it.

I don't think there's anything disrespectful about comparing the 2 at similar ages. Great to see Hakeem's name out there.

Obviously there are a lot of similarities but Dream was a relentless animal coming out of college. I also don't know if the current league is conducive of a dominant post up player. Embid has a lot of skills but will likely develop in a different way. That may also keep him healthier in the future.

oops. I guess my posting-style precedes me sometimes. Didn't mean to sound like a contrarian, getting defensive and challenging you. Sorry, if it came out that way. I was in a hurry to go somewhere.

I just would like to see any videos of the moves, if you come across some beyond the one that gets shown all the time, like the Porzingis Dream Shake move. The video on the other page, I had seen before. That's a nice face up in the first shot. And the spin move in the second is pretty sweet and quick. Bring them on. fwiw: Towns has a sweet face-up game, too, and nice turn-around.

    Btw what about defensively?

Hakeem is probably the greatest ever defender to play the game along with Bill Russell. I doubt Embiid comes close defensively

Embiid is more young Duncan rather than the fluidity and grace of Hakeem. Just watch young Timmy, and you can see they move very similar and handle the ball very similar.

Haven't watched this video. But, i believe they have the same body build. Same running form. Similar shooting form. Similar footwork. Similar handles.

    Rookie seasons....

    Embiid 0.8
    Hakeem 1.2

Joel is playing much fewer minutes.

One MAJOR thing he must do to truly replicate Dream is step his game up come postseason. That's difficult to do when you're already great in the regular season.

    Embidd per 36 minutes

29 points, 14 rebounds, 4 blocks, 3 assist. CRAZY stuff

He's no Hakeem, but he's probably the closest thing. This guy is unbeliveable skilled and only played basketball for 5 years!!!!

Imagine what he would be when he learn to play basketball. Started playing at age 17 and still only 22.

    Wiggin over Embidd? LOL

    Rubio over Curry
    Wiggin over Joel Joey

Someone needs to make a 30 for 30 on TWOLVES DRAFTS!! I can't believe how many ALL STARS and MVPS they have passed. I only hear about Rubio and Flynn over Curry, but just looking at the past 7 drafts, they have missed out on TONS OF ALL STARS and MVPS to pick crap like Wesley Johnson!!!

Even when they make the right pick, they trade him away for crap like FOYE and cussed the guy like ROY!!

"Roy had a 2006 pre-draft workout with the Trail Blazers prior to being selected by the Minnesota Timberwolves as the sixth overall pick. However, he was immediately traded to the Trail Blazers for the draft rights of Randy Foye"

So Roy was not a Blazer curse, he was a TWOLVES CURSE!!! 30 for 30

I agree he looks a bit too slow to be compared to Hakeem. I think his skill set is just so awesome that people jump to comparing him to Hakeem since he also had a insanely awesome skill set for a center.

Embiid looks like a monster, very skilled and unique player at his gigantic size.

Cousins, Davis, Embiid, Towns and Nurkic are 5 crazy talented young centers who will be fun to wach for the next decade.

You know it's an ALL GUARD league now when the 5 best young centers aren't Playoff team

Imagine Hakeem, Robinson, Mourning, Mutumbo, and Ewing not making the playoff. UNPOSSIBLE>

    BUT

Cousins, Davis, Embiid, Towns and Nurkic = NO PLAYOFF...well , one of them might, Nurkic or Davis, but probably end up with Portland for 8th again

Nurkic is average 25 points, 12 rebounds , 5 assists and shooting 62% FG this month!!! and playing less than 30 minutes!!!

Nurkic Dec FG% = 68%???????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! His better than Embiid

Embiid doesn't have the footwork or the quickness that Hakeem had. Many people forget that Hakeem could move almost like a guard could, he had a very quick first step and an arsenal of moves that demanded a double team. Hakeem also had a much higher defensive IQ, knew how to guard his opponents and was rarely caught sleeping or giving up backdoor points or easy shots.

If I were to compare Embiid to a past player I would probably compare him to David Robinson or maybe Rick Schmits simply based on the way he can face up and shoot the basketball. But, he doesn't have the array of moves or the agility that Dream had, nor does he posses the same passing skills or defensive awareness despite being a good shot blocker.

Beyond ridiculous and grossly unfair to compare Embiid's polish with Prime Hakeem's. Comparing his moves and skills to 22-year-old Akeem is more appropriate (and flattering to Embiid).

Anyway, he's not quite as quick as young Dream off the floor or laterally, but he's much bigger. I don't think he'll be as good defensively.
