    I feel like "Soundgarden's Badmotorfinger" should have been bolded because IMO it's a more significant album than anything Pearl Jam ever released.

    I think 1994 wins the battle between the two years.

    '91 was a magical year when it came to great albums being released...only '79 is better, IMO.

    Is Nirvana really that important? What did they do that Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, etc didn't do or weren't about to do anyways?

    I enjoy them as a band but not nearly to the degree of critical acclaim they've gotten in the years since he died. I think any of the bands I listed above are far superior.

    Asking if Nirvana is really that important is almost like asking if the Beatles are really that important. They were one of the most influential bands of all time and arguably the last important band in that they were the last "biggest band in the world"
