Bill did great back in the day, now that he's paired with two guys who think they're funny and you get some terrible nicknames. It's not the nicknames that's the problem imo, but mostly the amount of time they call them by their nickname and in particular the combination with a standard line. It's like Budinger: "Hey Bud, let's party" instead of just calling him Air Bud / Bud. H&H brothers is just a terrible band name, H20 is the way to go!
They're very corny and lame. I definitely prefer when Calvin Murphy was doing the color.. and now Bill seems to feel like he has to carry the broadcast and inject some color into his play by play because Clyde has nothing insightful to say about the game and Bull is the biggest cheeseball ever. But then again, have you heard the Sixers broadcast team? Those guys are horrible.
The Great Wall for Yao = Fantastic Rocketman for Dwight = Meh Ice Cream Man for Scola = Laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaame. Just my opinion though.
I've said this once before and this feels like the appropriate thread to say it again. BigShoulders McStrenghthendunker "OHHHH! MCSTRENGTHENDUNKER WITH THE VICIOUS THROWDOWN!" It comes off the tongue clumsily but dammit is it apt.
He can be cheesy, and might make up a few things here and there, but he's like your favourite grandpa... can't hate on him.
Bill Worrell is a legend. He can say whatever he wants. I personally love our commentors!! Its like watching the game with my three pals, Clyde, Matt, and Bill!
Y'all complain about everything I swear. I'll be graceful to hear them. ****ing Comcast ****ing everything. I miss hearing Bill, Clyde, and Matt
When he kept saying, "the H&H boys" I wanted to punch him through my TV! Rocketman is just as lame but i have heard an interview where Dwight embraced the nickname.
Worrell is trying to be hip with the nicknames and yeah that part is lame. He is a good broadcaster though.
I don't mind the nicknames so much. I just wish someone would get Bill Worrell to stop calling every player in the entire NBA drafted in the first round the 1st pick in the draft.
H&H is the worst thing ever. He kept saying it again and again and it still sounded terrible. Doesn't matter how many times he says it, it's never going to stick because it's awful.
Meh...lay off Bill. He's a Rocket icon and will be there as long as he wants. As for the nicknames, I think Clyde is rubbing off on him.
