Did anyone hear Bill Worrel say Yao is doing a Yaoman's job before 76ers game? He totally stole Clutch's line. Clutch should get some fee from him!!! Unless Clutch is not the first one to use it.

I noticed the same thing, only it was Clyde who mentioned it. Bill followed with something like, "That's pretty good, I like that"..

So, hello Clyde, say hello once in a while. :D

BTW, that trade suggestion from Chad Ford was truly horrendous. #1+Mo+EG+Collier for #5+Mcdyess. That pick would have likely been Caron Butler. And it would have been a disaster, the team would have had no frontcourt, no Yao, no Mcgrady.

Will had it completely correct. He's freaking Nostradomus.

Edited to add: Boy it's kind of funny reading the posts from when everybody thought EG was going to be a future superstar. Damn, did that situation go from heaven to hell or what.

No one thought about drafting Amare Stoudemire at that time... He actually would be a better fit with Cat and SF3.

I know Mcdyess was good but I didn't know his stock was that high back then. EG was still being viewed as a up and coming 20 years old PF who could become a star at that time. MO was a servicable young PF in the league. And then we would have to throw in the #1 pick (Yao Ming)!!!

    Unbelivable.

Dice had a couple of years (98-01?) where he was averaging 20/10 and playing extremely well (one of the top 6-7 PFs IMO for that stretch). Couple that with his (then) insane athletisicm and it makes sense that he was so sought after in that timeframe.

LOL thanks for the link Clutch!
the basketball discussion's back in the days were so much better than they are now with posters actually providing facts or logic to back up statements.

Did anyone else read this headline too fast and think it was about former UH football coach Bill Yoeman?

    Ok, probably not.

Like I said, I know he was good. And like you said, he was a top 6-7 PF and he had insane atheletism. But the price of ...

"EG was still being viewed as a up and coming 20 years old PF who could become a star at that time. MO was a servicable young PF in the league. And then we would have to throw in the #1 pick (Yao Ming)"

    ... was still kinda steep.

Yeh, I hear ya and I agree. I suppose one of the rationales behind it was that most of the folks weren't sold on the #1 pick (Yao) and were shooting for the present (i.e Dice, who was already a star at that time) than to wait for EG to develop into a star.

On a side-but-somewhat-similar note, did anyone catch the Blazer's broadcast an League Pass? They showed a shot of Clyde Drexler and one of the broadcasters said something along the lines of "Clyde comes up to me and asks 'Who'd playing good for you guys?'.... 5 minutes before tipoff!" The other guy responds by asking "Are you saying Clyde doesn't do his homework?" Then they both start laughing... :)
