It was Dwight's team in Orlando, but he left. He's going to be facing another down team next season, and why on earth would Lebron leave Miami for the Lakers?
i agree LeBron is not joining the Lakers with the new CBA its gonna be hard for teams to steal superstars from other teams
Lebron not going anywhere... Dwight coming to Houston... Lin going to drive in theater with Parsons... Harden going to the strip club...
Comparison: D12 - 35.7 mins / 16.9 ppg / 12.3 rpg / 2.4 bpg / 3 tpg Asik - 30.1 mins / 10.2 ppg / 11.7 rpg / 1.1 bpg / 2.1 tpg So you're saying we will have less turnovers with D12 playing in a faster pace while he has more already? Interesting..and to your comment about 'wide margin' I'm curious if you consider 0.5 rpg more in 5.6 mins more per game a great difference (and before you get started on the ppg also consider he is fouling 1.1 fpg more than Asik) Really wondering if you also think running at Houston's pace would do him that good
The idea that the Lakers can sign whoever they want in mid-2014 is overplayed. Even in glamour markets, it usually doesn't work that way. New York and Chicago each went after LeBron in 2010, and ended up signing the likes of Amare Stoudemire and Carlos Boozer to massively-overpaid contracts. That's what free agency usually results in, and I'm sure Dwight and his team understand that. The Lakers also don't have the young assets (like, say, Houston does) to use their cap space for a disgruntled Kevin Love or LaMarcus Aldridge type via trade. The idea that Dwight wants to be "the man" and will blindly trust a front office to put the right pieces around him flies in the face of every action he's taken for the past year or so. He wants to win and wants to play with at least one other star. Obviously you can't rule the Lakers out given extra money and Mitch Kupchak, but I agree with Simmons -- it's below 50/50 for them, as it stands now.
Remember this, Dwight's PPG is 16.9 ppg WITH Kobe jacking. Think about how many more points he could get if he gets feeds from Lin and Harden that Asik manages to drop half of.
We are now just 7 days away from the playoffs after waiting 3 years. We have the whole summer and NBA off-season to talk about free agents and what not.
No they can't. Not even close, actually. Nash is on the books at almost $10 million. Howard's salary would be above $20 million. There's also minimum cap holds for every other spot on the active roster, so you're looking at nearly $35 million committed for 2014-15 already. That gives them roughly $25 million in cap room, which is nowhere near enough to sign two max FAs (especially tenured guys like Wade and LeBron).
The passes that Asik drops are marked as turnovers for he guy who passed him the ball. So his turnover stat is deceiving. Plus, the Rockets play at a much faster pace than the Lakers, and this gives Asik more rebounding opportunities. With Dwight there would be less team turnovers, the same or most likely better rebounding, more scoring at the rim, and a better half court offense with Dwight's pick and roll ability and the fact that double teaming Dwight means more open 3's for the shooters. Lin and Harden would also have an easier time driving if they have the ability to dump it off to Dwight, or score if they overplay on Dwight. Dwight would make the half court offense work so much better, which is an area that the Rockets are just average at.
