I've been very negative about Okafor, but after recently realizing we are very short on any kind of talent, I'm re-considering. I watched one game, skimmed through another, watched some highlights, and a couple of low lights. I looked at his stats. I think this kid is going to develop a 3pt shot and when he does he's going to be every bit a slightly better version Ryan Anderson, if not better. I'm not sure we can turn that down for what it would cost, and given his age. I'm not too concerned with his fit wit the current personnel, because I see the current personnel as mostly on probation or in training anyway. If what it costs to get him is somewhat reasonable, I would go for it. I wouldn't bank on him ever becoming more than (at best) a 3rd best scorer and 5th worst defender on the team. But that's ok. He doesn't cost much now, and I think he wouldn't cost much to extend or match in restricted free agency. I would rather have Noel. In fact, I wish we'd send them Capela and Ariza for Noel right now. A painful trade (cause I like Ariza), but a good risk. However, if that's not in the cards, then let's see if we can get Okafor for Beverley, Brewer and a first. Start to work on his 3pt shot and get him into the habit of running his ass off. There IS a decent chance he would become the 3rd best player on our team, and an improving Okafor is not a bad 3rd best player or even an elite 6th man. It's a decent building block. If Philly is asking for a lot more than that, then ignore my post.
