i was thinking that too, but he didn't list all of the top 20 and i'm guessing he'd slide in there somewhere. he's clearly a better player than some in that top 12, but he did miss 30 games.
Great to see some T-Mac love. I remember seeing what Jemele Hill wrote(that attention craving bonehead that wrote the Kobe>MJ piece) basically calling T-Mac a lazy defender and implying he's not a great teammate. Clearly, that's a bunch of crap. Glad to see Simmons telling it like it is.
Funny that Bill Simmons left off Battier initially since he's a big fan of Shane's. Great article regardless. And very accurate. Not just about T-Mac, but everyone else as well.
If he's writing about the NBA, I will read it. Other than that, the guy is a lame tool and a douchebag. He knows absolutely nothing about college basketball and football, but continues to write about them like he does. Take for instance how he threw UT coach Rick Barnes under the bus because apparently he didn't know how to coach Kevin Durant. He blamed Barnes for the team's failures, and claims that Barnes crappy coaching deprived us of seeing more of Durant (btw, Simmons has an absolute man-crush on Durant). What he totally forgot to realize is that the UT basketball team wasn't really that good, but Durant's greatness overshadowed all the weaknesses until they finally lost in the 2nd round of the Big Dance. But no, it's all Barnes' fault according to this moron.
.... 1) Bill Simmons is not a sports journalist nor does he pretend to be one. 2) Bill Simmons is not a sports journalist nor does he pretend to be one. 3) Bill Simmons is not a sports journalist nor does he pretend to be one. 4) Bill Simmons is not a sports journalist nor does he pretend to be one. 5) Repeat steps 1-4
He is a columnist for ESPN. His ignorant BS shouldn't be tolerated. Hey Bill, STICK TO THE NBA DIPSHEET.
I happen to agree with Billy Boy here. I REALLY don't like the way Barnes coaches basketball, but as with his counterpart over on the gridiron, he knows how to recruit...
He is part of their Page 2 contingent. It's part of ESPN's initiative to inject humor into sports. Foxsports.com has thier funhouse, CNNSI has their 10 spot etc.
amen. He doesn't claim to know anything about college basketball. If you had done your research, you would know he rarely watched the sport before this season. He form's crazy fan opinions and ideas and shares them. You really think the lottery should give everyone an equal opportunity to land the number 1? me neither, but he's not a "douchebag" for the though, just a fan speaking to the rest of the country.
Simmons is hella funny, so I don't care if he can't tell the difference between a basketball and a soccer ball. That was some high praise he gave to McGrady, but I know we're all glad to see that it was well deserved. Now, he just needs to validate it by winning in the playoffs! Please T-Mac, just win it. I'm guessing he omitted Yao because of his injury. Shaq wasn't on the list, either.
Exactly. The main thing about Bill Simmons that I really like is that he writes some fresh stuff, offering a new perspective on certain things. It gets boring reading the same type of sports articles over and over in regular magazines newspapers. Sure, some of those things are crazy and some are just jokes, but at least they aren't boring BS other espn writers put out there.
