I love the trade, though obviously I hate to see Landry leave. Martin is the athletic wing that can shoot and finish that the Rockets desperately needed. Morey may not always be right (as no one ever ALWAYS is), but he for dang sure gets the very most he can out of every move.

I feel extremely confident with him as our GM. More so than even under Carrol Dawson, who could get deals done but sometimes brought in stars for stars' sake.

Morey quietly gets good players, or gets rid of them if they aren't (cough, Jey Dorsey).

    Nice job.

I hated the trade this morning.... I was really hoping for Daryl Norris  to have a better deal up his sleeve.... a few hours later I was much happier with the picks and the big men. Carl will be sorely missed, but long term this is a heck of a deal. Good Job DM!!

Thanks for having me listen to 5 second Morey kissing and 2 minute montage, scar face and breakfast club talk. Typical of Bill Simmons -- not funny.

    j/k

Even better. Those picks have little protections according to Jonathan Feigen from Houston Chronicle.

Okay. I'll come back for this one as well. Morey may be the best GM in the history of Houston sports franchises.

The thing is the Lakers still gave up Marc Gasol, who's playing great now, and 2008 first round pick (Darrell Arthur) and 2010 first round pick, yes was a crucial trade for the Lakers to win and the definitely got the better end of the deal but not horrible for Memphis.

Does anyone else wonder if the Caron Butler/Brendan Heywood trade talks was just a smokescreen?

How this trade worked actually? If the Kings was the leverage, why they didn't get something more than Larry Huges? I don't understand. But I'm pretty sure what we get now is much more than the contract of a drama queen. All the question marks floating in my brain without answer. Is Morey a CIA or FBI or mafia or what. There must be a secret behind the trade. BTW I've checked the news a thousand time. I need a nap. Thanks the wizard giving me a sweet dream.

Morey did really well. He essentially made 2 trades, Landry for Martin and Tmac for the Knicks' pieces. The fact that he was able to alter the trade to get those Knicks' pieces is very good.

Of course we also need to credit Alexander for taking on Jeffries' salary. The Kings could have traded Tmac to the Knicks and got the same deal, but they just didn't want to take Jeffries for another year. Essentially Alexander agreed to pay 10 mil for Hills + 2 1st rounders.

Most of the proposed trades before the deadline just didn't excite me except the Butler/Haywood deal. That would have been a good one. Before today, I just felt that nothing significant was going to happen, no SPLASH. Well, I was wrong, Martin is a SPLASH. Before his injuries, wow, he was the deadeye shooter/scorer the Rockets have needed for so long, smooth as silk. Sort of surprised at his shooting percentages because everytime I have seen him play he "lit it up." Anyway, is he as fragile as TMac, maybe, but he is really good when healthy? Any player can be injured.

Hate to lose Landry, but Morey must of thought he couldn't resign him. Jordan Hill might be a project, but he was the 8th pick in the draft, that's something. The rest, fillers, although the draft picks might yield something later. The Knicks fans are ecstatic to get rid of Jefferies, they really don't like him. Hmmm? Deals like this are proven to be good or bad over time. Let's wait and see before Morey is crowned with many crowns.

I may be skeptical on Martin (for reason I'll outline at a later date), however, sweetening your own tea with Hill and picks is admirable. They may not pan out, but creating the possibility that the magic beans will grow into something worthwhile is certainly commendable.

Well, the Knicks got what they wanted too, enough cap space to sign 2 (TWO) max free agents. No one else in the league has that. They had been planning this for 2 years, and they pulled off the last piece to the puzzle at the last possible second.
