Of all the years, why couldn't this be the year where there's a clear cut, can't miss QB. It's all a gamble...doesn't matter who they pick.
It's always a gamble but as much as drafting a QB can be a safe bet Teddy Bridgewater is that safe bet. Just watch Aaron Rodgers last year at Cal and compare him to Teddy. Look closely watch the deliver, the accuracy the mobility the footwork. Teddy Bridgewater is a little taller, a little faster, and a little better in almost everything Rodgers did then. Rodgers was supposed to be a top 5 pick but 23 teams didn't think so. In hindsight all 23 of those teams wish they rolled the dice on Rodgers. Obrien won't make that mistake.
Texans are (so far) 0-for-2 in drafts with franchise QBs where they have the number one overall pick. It makes Indy lucking into Luck coming off of one year with no Manning that much more frustrating: 2001: Vick and Brees (even though he was the first pick of the 2nd round) 2002: Carr, Harrington, and Patrick Ramsey 2003: Palmer, Leftwich, Boller, Grossman 2005: Smith, Rodgers, and Jason Campbell 2006: VY, Leinart, and Cutler 2007: Russell and Quinn Hoping our fortunes change in the 2014 draft.
BOB should consider Shawn Watson OC/QB coach at Louisville for QB coach if they decide on Bridgewater.
Last year people were saying Bridgewater was the clear cut#1 and this year's QB draft was sooooooo much better. Now this year's isn't good. lol
He would know Bridgewater's strengths and weaknesses better than any other QB coach in the country. When you are making such a huge investment in a player, it's not a bad idea to bring in someone that not only knows the player the best, but also, Im sure Bridgewater feels very comfortable with the coach as well. It's not like the QB coach is a huge investment...it's a small price to pay for something that could yield big dividends.
It's like that every year, in every sport. Remember the year before when Shabazz Muhammed was supposed to be this past years #1 overall? Yeah good luck Cavs and Anthony Bennett. Things change people change. In 2005 people thought that Rodgers would go #1 overall over Alex Smith, what happens? The guy drops all the way to 24. In hindsight, the Niners would obviously prefer Rodgers over Smith. This draft is shaping up to be something like that where people are ranking these guys from 1-32, yet no one really knows who will go where. This time I feel like the right QB is getting that attention and should go #1 overall, hopefully our coaches and GMs view it the same way once the draft arrives as well.

He does seem like a smart guy, who has studied the pro game meticulously. He is a bit on the emotional side but there is no question Teddy B's decision making has improved every year under him. The thing that amazes me most about TB is he just makes the game look easy no matter who the competition.
this is exactly what i thought when i made the suggestion. the guy is obsessed with the pro game and would probably love to join the league. you don't have to bring him in as OC but QBC or Offense Assistant would still help Bridgewater's transition.
That would make me very happy. Crennel is not cut out to be a head coach, but he is a fantastic defensive coach. I'm excited to see us actually have a week-to-week gameplan on both sides of the ball instead of lining up the same formations and set-ups week in and week out. It worked for about a season and a half, but once teams caught onto our system, the wheels fell off quickly and there was zero ability to adapt.
I'll pass on Crennel. No coaches over 60 please. The game has changed too much for most of those guys. Nothing about Crennel screams adaptability, and his defense in KC was extremely undisciplined for such a talented bunch. Of our existing coaches, I'd consider bringing back Vance Joseph and Kollar. I think they've both done well with their respective positions (giving Joseph a pass on this year due to bad safety play, poor depth, no pass rush).

Please please please... I hope there is something really to this and not just the "natural rumor" that happened when Kubiak was hired and all these names started popping up.
