It would have been fun to see how O'Brien would have reacted to Schaub's terrible play this season. lol.

What type of offense does O Brien run? And what was Penn ST's scheme on D?

After seeing him on Brady convinces me even more that hes not coming to Houston, he has too much passion and desire to win.

Shouldn't it say 2014? Go back and edit that, cause everyone knows you're the one that did that in the first place LoL

Cleveland supposedly retaining the rest of their coaching staff. Makes hiring O'Brien and his staff... difficult.

La Canfora hasn't been money lately, but figured I'd pass it along. My apologies if it's been mentioned already.

why people saying O'Brien has a relationship with Browns GM? they never worked together. Just because one worked with Belichick, 10 years before the other?
Thats not enough relationship to really wanting to work with someone, even when you have better options.

when Lombardi was the director of personnel in Cleveland O'Brien was coaching in college, and when O'Brien signed with New England, Lombardi was in the media, not even working with an NFL team.

[rquoter]The Cleveland Browns just blamed the band for the fact that the Titanic sank.

That’s the message from management: We’ll drive this ship into an iceberg or two, and we’ll leave you without lifeboats, but by golly, if you don’t keep the inevitable from happening, we’ll hold our breath and stomp our feet and then we’ll ... we’ll ... we’ll fire you.

All the best, Rob Chudzinski: the fans hardly knew ya as a head coach. And good luck to whoever is next, because you’re walking into a losing environment and losing culture, and you won’t have a say in how things go.

That’s where the Browns are right now. [/rquoter]

    Sounds like a great job.

They go on to talk about management and personnel decisions. Sounds like a coach would have even less control with the Browns than they presumably would here even if Smith is given a bigger role in the absence of Kubiak. They suggest the job is better suited for someone ready to jump at the chance to be a HC (like Chudzinski was) or someone who doesn't really care about having a say in personnel matters like Whisenhunt.

O'Brien wants to use the Browns as leverage for the Texans job, I don't want him here. I'm fine with trying him as the coach, but I don't want his contract to be large enough that McNair would hesitate to fire him for money reasons. Yes, I know McNair hasn't fired any HC for anything less than a 2-14 season. But still, I prefer the Texans aren't forced to keep him around for 4-5 years because we gave him such a huge contract, especially with the buyout.

I'd do it for Shaw though.

If the Texans believe he is the right guy, pay him a market value contract and commit. You don't hire a coach anticipating how you will jettison them in two years. That's Kardashian logic.

If the Texans can be certain that the coach they hire is the correct one, then the team wouldn't have hired Kubiak and Capers to start their life. There are no certainties, only degrees of likelihoods.

What kind of defence does O'Brien usually play? I'd like to see Watt in a 4-3. Wonder what kind of damage he could do. Get another DE in the first 3 rounds.

What do you guys think of the Texans hiring Chud? I'm not too familiar with him, is he a possible fit here?

O'Brien's Penn State status in limbo (link)
Not very familiar with the "issues" surrounding the coaching changes... anyone follow PSU?

LOL. How much did the Texans pay for that nugget of advice?

The super, exclusive - insiders only - premium content probably had a section on Josh McDaniels too!
