My own editorial thoughts on the PRC declining population. While it will cause a lot of problems in the next few years the decline of the population of the PRC is a longterm good for both the PRC and especially for the whole world. The PRC already has major environmental problems with lack of clean water and arable land being a major one. It can't feed it's own population as is. In the last decade they've overbuilt with rampant speculation and development creating ghost cities. This is even while there are still millions in the PRC living in substandards housing. Slowing down growth and population where the PRC is at right now isn't necessarily a problem for a mature economy. The PRC has built strong and good infrastructure so it's not necessary for them to keep on adding. Now is really the time to look to how they can revamp their economy and culture from being a factory for the rest of the World. To put in simply they don't need to add more people to the World or should they. Even with a declining population and likely that India will overtake them there will still be plenty of people in the PRC to sustain a strong economy.
