Thanks, Bill. A large majority of my life has been spent watching Astros games. You are the narrator in many of my best memories.

Now, if only the Astros front office will just clean house on the tv side, I'd be happy. They cannot give the job full time to Ashby. He's just the worst.

Jim Deshaies and Jeff Blum lets do this Astros.

Trade Ashby, and 500 pounds of beef ribs from Killens for Deshaies and call it a day.

Need a real PBP guy. No more color guys pulling double-duty as pbp guys.

    So this season is it?

Way to give a guy a little notice.

I wish Crane had pockets that deep.

So would Bill Worrell be a candidate for the Stros?
    Pair him with Blum.

Can we allocate money from the International Signing Pool to sign JD?

I guess you don't remember when Worrell used to do Astros games... it was awful. Of course this was back when he was in his prime as a basketball announcer, so the difference (at the time) was staggering.

I'm sure now, with his overall regression... it would actually be more his speed... but still probably awful.

I'm happy because it should mean a full-time team moving forward (I really hate guys doing only home games). I'm sad because I'm sure Ash will get the gig.

Really wish we could bring Jim back.

Also, if we bring in Worrell, I'll be forced to throw in the towel on the Astros.

It doesn't seem like they'll just toss Ash to the side so unfortunately the road team is probably going to be the everyday team. I like Blum a lot and we were fortunate that we were able to replace someone as awesome as Deshaies with a similarly witty humored Blum. If only we could get someone much much better than Ashby.

Just promote Rob Ford and move Ashby to radio.

First it was Gene Peterson & Jim Foley on the Rockets radio, Bill Worrell and now Bill Brown? All my favorite Houston announcers growing up listening are leaving.

    :(

I've never known Astros baseball without Bill Brown, gonna feel strange. He's been an excellent PBP guy, even now when he does the games with Blum we still have a really solid broadcast.

Ashby is gonna get the gig, god how I hope I'm wrong, but it feels that way. Hopefully we hire a full time new guy to pair with Blum.

Good memories. Liked his laid back style.

    Have a nice life, Bill

Worrell was terrible calling baseball games. I was happy when he wasn't brought back to do them any more.

There is a guy in Austin named Mike Capps. He does the pbp for the Round Rock Express. The guy is simply great. He's won Broadcaster of the Year 3 times. I would love for the Astros to sign him and put Blum in the next seat over permanently...and for Ashby to go somewhere else.

Blum and Ford and Sparks are all solid, who's the other PBP guy though?

I imagine that working with Ashby and pretending to laugh at his comments and tolerate his idiocy and creepiness took a toll. I wish him well, he was great for many years.

    JD ain't coming back.

Ford and sparks are terrible. Ashby is good as color, not so sure about him doing play by play everyday.
