Isn't there a lot of black-on-black genocidal crime in Africa? Is that still racist? Not how we think of it in America ...

First, what does genocide in Africa have to do with Bennett's comment?

But to answer your silly question: I assume you are referring to Sudan. In Sudan, it is muslim middle-eastern decedants that are that are committing genocide against black Africans. It is NOT black-on-black. So yes, by any interpretation, it is genocide.

are there any specific categories of crime where in whites are more often than other races the perps?

lets say tax evasion, white collar crimes, child molestation.. not sure what the statistics are..

do you think we should abort all white babies to reduce these specific categories of crime?

You guys should just read the book. I read it a couple weeks ago and have mentioned portions of it in several threads. Everyone is so sensitive. What he stated was factual just not PC. Has this country has become so sensitive to people's feelings that we can no longer state things that are true? Ugly, but true? And it has nothing to do with racial disposition. Black people, as a race, are no more inclined to commit crimes because of their genetics. Statistically, black Americans are more inclined to commit crimes because of historical injustice to them and the challenging socio-economical setting so many live in. Not because of genetics. Nobody is suggesting that. That being said he should have held his tongue.

Yes it has gotten that sensitive. Its ok for "some" people to discuss this type of stuff so long as you agree with "their" opinion. If you don't this type of bashing happens.

I hear people from the left making similar types of statements about individuals all the time. Making blind accusations, trying to place blame...
Have you ever listened to "Air America" or some of the other liberal talk radio shows? or go read some of the democratic blogs on the net....Holly crap talk about hatin'....

I don't understand people who defend his comments. In your opinion, if there is a context, someone can just say anything offensive and wrong as they want to. If someone adds a comment to say that it is "an impossible, ridiculous and morally reprehensible thing to do", then he/she is safe to offend and attack anyone, and it's totally understandable? In other words, if someone claims that every American, or Russian, or Chinese, or People from ME shall be killed, the world will be a more peaceful place, you wouldn't object the idea if he adds that he considers that idea "an impossible, ridiculous and morally reprehensible thing to do"? It's just unbelievable.

Yes, context is important, but it doesn't mean that context can be spun to support everything. There are things utterly and foundamentally wrong, where context does NOT matter at all. If someone openly claims that he supports racism, no context or disclaimer can save him!

Will you guys support OBL's call to kill every single American, if he added that idea would be "an impossible, ridiculous and morally reprehensible thing to do"? Will you try so hard to defend and understand him?! And you are still wondering where the outrage came from?

Yes, race doesn't just boil down to skin color. White people were racists towards the Irish here in the US, weren't they? Genocide in africa is based on people's tribal background. One group thinks the other is inferior and blames them for all sorts of problems and believes they need to be wiped out to improve their country.

Please save this generous understanding, that they were treated badly before, you can understand their behaviour, but they are still bad. You want facts? How about that US has the highest lockup rate among the world? Statistically, if every American is taken out, the lockup rate in the world will be reduced. Do you support that argument? There are people in every single race commiting crimes. Statistically, you can drop crime rate by abort every single baby from any race. Moreover, if you abort every single baby in every single race, you can drop your crime rate dramatically. Do you support that?!

I haven't read the book, but it's my understanding race isn't used and I quoted the author saying that himself in a previous post. The thing is that Bennett didn't mention any of the things you did about why blacks are more likely to committ crime. So people take that to mean that he believes that it's a genetic thing. He hasn't qualified his statement in anyway. I asked gwayneco why he thinks blacks are more likely to committ crimes in this country and he won't answer the question either. If people want to have an "honest" discussion about race, then say what you think.

The other thing is I never get this trend of telling people they are oversensative. If gwayneco started a thread saying he was infertile and that he couldn't get his wife pregnant, and somebody would chime in and say "I'm fertile, If I rape your wife a few times, she'll get pregnant. That would be an impossible, ridiculous, and morally reprehensible thing to do, but your wife will be pregnant." Would that last part excuse the person of having said that? Should gwayneco not be offended by somebody saying that? Would it be our place to tell him he's oversensative if he was angry and offended by said comment?

Is it really being overly sensitive when he suggests racial genocide? If I'm not allowed to get sensitive about that, what the hell can I get sensitive about?

The fact is irrelevant to the story.

Fact: Alaska is the largest state in the country.
Commentary: If we kill all Alaskans we will reduce the US population.

Who gives a crap about his fact. That's not what we are talking about. We are talking about suggestions of genocide.

White people, if you want to know if something is offensive, here is a clue: Try asking the person that the comment is directed to. Unfortunately, as a white person, you don't get to make the call. Sorry, that's the reality of it.

Therefore it is okay to suggest genocide?

I love how the supporters of Bennet justify this with statistics. If you're using statistics in this argument, then you are missing the point by far. the point is he singled out black people in an outrageous statement, whatever the context is. It let you know what he thinks about.

didn't this guy get in trouble for saying something else?

for the millionth time he did not suggest genocide. he made a statement. If all of the grandparents alive today suddelnly died there would be a huge influx of money for the rest of us and our entire social security crisis would end.

Does that mean I want to kill all old people?

There was a mini-scandal a year or more ago when he admitted to some high-stakes gambling activities. He's a regular at the casinos apparenetly.
