i wouldnt say garbage. he helped us get to the worldseries in 2005. i remember the phillies series where he went off.
Crap like this really pisses me off. Since when did sports writers become more than sports writers? They are not trained investigators or detectives. Baseball is all about numbers, just do your job and study the numbers and then vote. Stop the bull****. http://www.pressandguide.com/articl...oc50bbb2984564d506396249.txt?viewmode=default
Rage!!! He might as well not vote for anyone of this era ever. Then we can give his vote to someone who will actually vote for someone.
They played with Clemens/Pettitte at the tail end of their careers. They played with Ken before he is believed to have started roiding. Has any player they played with during their prime been connected to steroids.
Using this line of thought, and bringing Jose Canseco, Jason Gimabi and Alex Rodriquez into the discussion, I anxiously look forward to him not voting for Derek Jeter.
the voting process is so laden with sanctimonious false piety and bull****. either throw Gaylord Perry and that NY Giants exec from the early 20th century out, and all the guys from the 60s who did speed and other uppers, or STFU and vote Bonds, Clemens, and every other current cheater in. that, and stop the witch hunt on guys with NO. EVIDENCE. WHATSOEVER. The Hall is a fraud until Rose gets in. And, if Bonds and Clemens are kept out, it is even more of a fraud. If Bagwell is kept out, it is both a fraud and a joke.
I don't have a problem with them making a moral judgement on those that have been found guilty or admited to it. The issue with Bagwell is that they're pretending to understand a process that is infinitely complex; certainly more complex than "big muscles = steriods." I've argued it before - Greg Maddux pitched at a high level for a *very* long time. If you're going to cast suspicion on any player that got big and hit HRs, then you absolutely, positively *have* to also look at long careers, too, as we know recovery is another benefit of using PEDs. If you're not willing to go the whole ten yards with your own amateur scientific research, then don't bother doing it at all.
Everybody on the HOF ballot could have used PEDs. We do know there have been plenty of surprise users as well. We can't presume anyone's innocence or guilt, unless we have something concrete. People can look at Roger Maris and see a guy that was a 20 HR guy, who then suddenly hit 39 and then 61 to see that freakish things like that do happen.
I do. It's inconsistent. For the Hall to suddenly get so pious when it's already full of slime and cheaters is ludicrous and hypocritical.

Another interesting note that I have seen discussed on twitter (and Astros County) is that MLB announced today that they will be showing a live webcast of the announcement next week. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20130102&content_id=40827002&vkey=news_mlb&c_id=mlb Money quote: Ballots were due a few days ago. MLB knows if someone made it or not by now. I doubt they would be going through all this trouble to say "Hey, better luck next year everyone!" Especially since they waited until today to publicize the event. Hopefully this means good news for at least Biggio, as he seems to be in the lead.
Man, I hope my schedule allows me to go to Cooperstown for this. I would be ridiculously excited to see Bags and Biggio get in together. Crazy.
